Hallo zusammen
Ralf, Urs, Giammi und ich haben am Samstag einen Linux Vortrag für die Informatiktage an der EB gehalten. Da es bis zum nächsten Treffen noch etwas geht, wollte ich meine Gedanken/Verbesserungsvorschläge schnell auf der Liste sharen:
1.) Was lief super - Wir hatten ein bunt gemischtes Publikum aus Personen, welche schon Linux verwenden oder nur mal davon gehört haben. Generell waren die Personen sehr interessiert und sind auch für zukünftige Sachen offen. Da müssen wir unbedingt (!) anknüpfen - Konzepte durch Analogien vermitteln (Hammer für die 4 Freiheiten und Auto für Linux/GNU Linux/Desktop Environment/Distro) -> Wenn möglich als Grafik visualisieren
2.) Wo wir uns verbessern können - Generell hat sich wieder die Frage gestellt: Freie Software oder GNU/Linux: Brauchen wir eine wirklich freie Distro oder empfehlen wir etwas anwenderfreundliches? Im Vorfeld hat es einiges an Arbeit gebraucht, Trisquel zum laufen zu bringen und das kam bei der EB von dem was ich vernommen habe nicht sehr gut an - Mit der Wahl kommt die Qual: Wir sollten uns meiner Meinung nach auf einige wenige dafür starke Applikationen fokusieren (z.B. nur Libre Office und WPS Office), nur die gängigen Browser etc. Dazu die Toolpage zusammenfassen oder weglassen, da dort einige Personen überfordert waren - Keine proprietären Applikationen mehr oder diese explizit nennen/labeln (so ist beispielsweise WPS Office auch proprietär) - Papier-Handout mit Kontaktmöglichkeiten. Dazu gehört eben vielleicht auch eine Art Landing Page (Das möchte ich wirklich nochmals gerne diskutieren), sodass man die Leute auch binden kann - Ich hätte noch einen früheren Zug kommen müssen, da der frühe Zug ausfiel und ich so wirklich 5 Minuten vor begin ankam

Wenn wir das nicht vermitteln können, brauchen wir aus meiner Sicht nicht weiter machen. Klar ist es für das EB interessant GNU/Linux im Portfolio zu haben, dann müssen sie aber wohl einfach eine_n gut bezahlten Kursleiter_in einstellen.
Ich finde immer noch wir sollten auf einer ganz anderen Ebene einsteigen. So wie RMS es auch tut, und mehr die politische Sicht in den Vordergrund rücken. Markus Dapp hat das in seiner Vorlesung zum Thema Freiheit und Software an der ETH sehr gut gemacht (auch nicht perfekt, aber immerhin gab es was)
Die Idee von: 'es müssen nur genug viele mit GNU/Linux anfangen, dann werden die automatisch zu Freie Software Menschen' geht einfach nicht auf. Dazu habe ich das jetzt schon zu lange miterlebt. Eine Rücklaufquote von ca. 1 -3% finde ich einfach zu wenig.
- Mit der Wahl kommt die Qual: Wir sollten uns meiner Meinung nach auf
einige wenige dafür starke Applikationen fokusieren (z.B. nur Libre Office und WPS Office), nur die gängigen Browser etc. Dazu die Toolpage zusammenfassen oder weglassen, da dort einige Personen überfordert waren

Der Workshop am Wochenende hat es meiner Meinung nach wieder gut gezeigt: RMS ist meilenweit von den Bedürfnissen und dem Verständnis der potentiellen Anwender entfernt. Ich sehe es invers zu Pati; das Begreifen und Unterstützen des Libre-Gedankens führt über die Zwischenstufe des Wechsels zu GNU/Linux. Damit wird eine neue Welt eröffnet, die auch die Bindungsstärke zu Freien Themen vorbereitet. Bestes Beispiel dafür sind viele von uns selbst. Ich zum Beispiel, der seit zwölf Jahren GNU/Linux nutzt aber erst einige Jahre später den Freien Gedanken für sich begriffen hat. Man kann die Normaluser nicht über Nacht von Null auf Hundert bringen; die Gefahr des Abschreckens ist viel zu gross. Manchmal kommt mir der Gedanke, dass wir unsere (noch nicht) Freie Welt nur für uns behalten möchten. Das extreme Vorgehen wäre das richtige Mittel zum Zweck. Versteht mich nicht falsch, das ist keine Kritik sondern diskussionswürdig: Zerstörung von Freier Software durch Verbreitung. Wir können das gerne beim nächsten Treffen diskutieren. Pati, du siehst EB als Nutzniesser; ich sehe sie als Plattform und Ermöglicher. Statt weiter rumzueiern haben wir hier ein reelle Gelegenheit. Politische Sichten interessieren keine Sau (bzw. nur Minderheiten). Wer so denkt, verkennt die Realität. Schaut euch die Wahlbeteiligung in Frankreich an oder euren Sitznachbarn im Tram oder der S-Bahn. Heute haben wir es überwiegend mit manipuliertem Wahlvieh zu tun (mehr von der Wirtschaft als von der Politik). Ideologie (RMS ist Weltanschauung) ist heute auf dem letzten Platz des Interesses angekommen, damit holt man wirklich niemanden mehr ab. Wir haben nicht WPS-Office empfohlen sondern erwähnt. Und in aller Härte Pati, hör auf zu jammern wenn dir ein paar Tage vorher einfällt, dass du an jenem Wochenende zügelst; das kann ich überhaupt nicht leiden. Weniger Kritik und mehr Engagement wäre besser. Bottom line: ich finde, wir haben es am Wochenende sehr gut gemacht und sollten diesen schmalen Pfad weiter verfolgen. Besser mit kleinen Schritten etwas erreichen als mit grossen Schritten abzustossen. Patricia: ich meine nichts böse sondern nur konstruktiv und bin immer zum Austausch bereit. Das sehe ich absolut nicht so und unsere bisherigen politischen oder auch künstlerischen Aktionen wie Freedomvote oder das Fotobuch waren sehr erfolgreich und haben international Anerkennung erfahren.
Ralf, du nennst dich selbst immer als gutes Beispiel, für mich zeigt es allerdings genau das es eben nicht klappt.
Dir ist der politische Aspekt egal und du bezeichnest Bürger als 'Wahlvieh'.
Nur die praktischen Eigenschaften von Freier Software zu erwähnen und das als Mehrwert zu verkaufen finde ich nicht sinnvoll. Daraus resultieren wenn überhaupt Benutzer_innen und keine Beitragenden. Freie Software lebt aber von der Beteiligung.
Dein Ansatz hat sicher auch seine Berechtigung, selbst wenn er wenig erfolgsversprechend erscheint, ob er jedoch bei der FSFE richtig aufgehoben ist, weiss ich nicht. Die fsfe ist in erster Linie eine politische Organisation.
Was RMS betrifft sehe ich es zum Teil ähnlich, einfach weil ich Radikalität nicht besonders mag. Kompromisse sind für mich jedoch durchaus vertretbar, wenn ich dadurch an Freiheit gewinnen kann.

Hoi Ralf,
Wir machen das ganze jetzt schon fast 10 Jahre und kein_e einzige_r ist bisher zurück gekommen. Ich verstehe deinen Ansatz, wenn jedoch der Erfolg ausbleibt, sollten wir etwas Neues probieren.

Kurz meine Sicht als Politisch aktiver.
Bei der Politik ist es immer so dass man möglichst alle erreichen möchte um später aus der Menge die wenigen wirklich interessierten zu gewinnen.
Hier beim Software Gedanken, sehe ich es folgendermassen:
Für die Verbreitung gibt es das sogenannte Henne/Ei Problem.
Wenn man Möchte dass etwas verwendet wird, dann muss es schon weit verbreitet sein. Gehen wir davon aus, dass unser Ziel ist, die Wirklich Freie Software zu Propagieren. Dann müssten wir aber erst die Masse bekommen die einen Defakto Standard etabliert.
Du Patricia möchtest die hauptsächliche Verbreitung der wirklich freien Software an vor allem diejenigen die auch wieder etwas zurück geben. Diejenigen die wieder an die Freie Software beitragen sind Programmierer. Aus Erfahrung weiss ich, dass das aufopfernde leidenschaftliche an einer bestimmten Sache nur einen Bruchteil der Bevölkerung erreichen kann, was somit auch für Entwickler gilt. Alle anderen kannst du nur durch Mehrwert erreichen. Ich persönlich denke, dass wir die Leidenschaftlichen Unterstützer einer freien offenen Software alle erreichen und begeistern können. Sie sind aber leider nicht genug um Gewicht zu bekommen. Damit wir erstens die Masse erreichen und zweitens diese an den richtigen Orten bekommen, müssen wir unser Engagement also an den Stellen und zu dem Zeitpunkt machen wo wir die zukünftigen Entscheider und Nutzer finden und wo sie am empfänglichsten für die jeweiligen Themen sind. Ich sehe das Life in unserer Firma. Es ist einfach erstaunlich wie immer mal wieder Firmenentscheide für eine Software daher kommen dass die Studenten in der Uni mit unserer CAD Software gearbeitet haben.
Und dass sind wie gesagt die Schulen.
* In den niedrigen Schulstufen wird die Leidenschaft und Neugier an der Software vermittelt Idealerweise Freie Programme um eine Gewohnheit zu erzeugen, Perfekt wäre es wenn man ein Proffessionelles werkzeug konfigurationsfrei in einem Kindermodus nutzen könnte * In den höheren Schulen die Politische Komponente Jugendliche in der Kanti und Berufsschulen beginnen sich erstmals für Politik zu interessieren * In den Techs und Universitäten dann der Mehrwert durch die völlige Freiheit und der Möglichkeiten.
Henne/Ei Problem sind hier die Lehrer, die nicht in der Lage sind den richtigen Unterrichtsstoff aus der Unendlichkeit des Internets heraus zu ziehen und daher bei den Offiziellen Lehrmitteln und Programmen landen die meist durch Lobby Arbeit von Software Herstellern zugeschnittene Lehrmittel und Informationen bekommen.
Meiner Meinung nach ist somit der Erfolg der wirklich Freien Software davon abhängig wie gut wir den Nachwuchs unterrichten.

Was RMS betrifft sehe ich es zum Teil ähnlich, einfach weil ich Radikalität nicht besonders mag. Kompromisse sind für mich jedoch durchaus vertretbar, wenn ich dadurch an Freiheit gewinnen kann.

Der Workshop am Wochenende hat es meiner Meinung nach wieder gut gezeigt: RMS ist meilenweit von den Bedürfnissen und dem Verständnis der potentiellen Anwender entfernt. Ich sehe es invers zu Pati; das Begreifen und Unterstützen des Libre-Gedankens führt über die Zwischenstufe des Wechsels zu GNU/Linux. Damit wird eine neue Welt eröffnet, die auch die Bindungsstärke zu Freien Themen vorbereitet. Bestes Beispiel dafür sind viele von uns selbst. Ich zum Beispiel, der seit zwölf Jahren GNU/Linux nutzt aber erst einige Jahre später den Freien Gedanken für sich begriffen hat. Man kann die Normaluser nicht über Nacht von Null auf Hundert bringen; die Gefahr des Abschreckens ist viel zu gross.
Manchmal kommt mir der Gedanke, dass wir unsere (noch nicht) Freie Welt nur für uns behalten möchten. Das extreme Vorgehen wäre das richtige Mittel zum Zweck. Versteht mich nicht falsch, das ist keine Kritik sondern diskussionswürdig: Zerstörung von Freier Software durch Verbreitung. Wir können das gerne beim nächsten Treffen diskutieren.
Pati, du siehst EB als Nutzniesser; ich sehe sie als Plattform und Ermöglicher. Statt weiter rumzueiern haben wir hier ein reelle Gelegenheit. Politische Sichten interessieren keine Sau (bzw. nur Minderheiten). Wer so denkt, verkennt die Realität. Schaut euch die Wahlbeteiligung in Frankreich an oder euren Sitznachbarn im Tram oder der S-Bahn. Heute haben wir es überwiegend mit manipuliertem Wahlvieh zu tun (mehr von der Wirtschaft als von der Politik). Ideologie (RMS ist Weltanschauung) ist heute auf dem letzten Platz des Interesses angekommen, damit holt man wirklich niemanden mehr ab.
Wir haben nicht WPS-Office empfohlen sondern erwähnt. Und in aller Härte Pati, hör auf zu jammern wenn dir ein paar Tage vorher einfällt, dass du an jenem Wochenende zügelst; das kann ich überhaupt nicht leiden. Weniger Kritik und mehr Engagement wäre besser.
Bottom line: ich finde, wir haben es am Wochenende sehr gut gemacht und sollten diesen schmalen Pfad weiter verfolgen. Besser mit kleinen Schritten etwas erreichen als mit grossen Schritten abzustossen.
Patricia: ich meine nichts böse sondern nur konstruktiv und bin immer zum Austausch bereit.

Die Idee von: 'es müssen nur genug viele mit GNU/Linux anfangen, dann werden die automatisch zu Freie Software Menschen' geht einfach nicht auf. Dazu habe ich das jetzt schon zu lange miterlebt. Eine Rücklaufquote von ca. 1 -3% finde ich einfach zu wenig.
- Mit der Wahl kommt die Qual: Wir sollten uns meiner Meinung nach
auf einige wenige dafür starke Applikationen fokusieren (z.B. nur Libre Office und WPS Office), nur die gängigen Browser etc. Dazu die Toolpage zusammenfassen oder weglassen, da dort einige Personen überfordert waren
Ihr habt WPS Office empfohlen?

Danke für den tollen Text. Er enthält viele gute Anregungen, die wir zum Teil ja auch schon umsetzen. Den schulischen Ansatz finde ich sehr wichtig. Bisher haben wir uns ausschliesslich auf GNU/Linux als Eintrittskarte beschränkt mit mehr oder weniger gorssem Rücklauf.
Matthias Kirschner der Präsident der FSFE hat angeboten bei uns einen Vortrag zu machen. Wenn wir das in einen politischen Kontext bringen könnten, eventuell mit ch-open zusammen, wäre das eine tolle Gelegenheit.

Bei der Politik ist es immer so dass man möglichst alle erreichen möchte um später aus der Menge die wenigen wirklich interessierten zu gewinnen.

Diejenigen die wieder an die Freie Software beitragen sind Programmierer. Aus Erfahrung weiss ich, dass das aufopfernde leidenschaftliche an einer bestimmten Sache nur einen Bruchteil der Bevölkerung erreichen kann, was somit auch für Entwickler gilt. Alle anderen kannst du nur durch Mehrwert erreichen. Ich persönlich denke, dass wir die Leidenschaftlichen Unterstützer einer freien offenen Software alle erreichen und begeistern können. Sie sind aber leider nicht genug um Gewicht zu bekommen. Damit wir erstens die Masse erreichen und zweitens diese an den richtigen Orten bekommen, müssen wir unser Engagement also an den Stellen und zu dem Zeitpunkt machen wo wir die zukünftigen Entscheider und Nutzer finden und wo sie am empfänglichsten für die jeweiligen Themen sind. Ich sehe das Life in unserer Firma. Es ist einfach erstaunlich wie immer mal wieder Firmenentscheide für eine Software daher kommen dass die Studenten in der Uni mit unserer CAD Software gearbeitet haben.
Und dass sind wie gesagt die Schulen.
- In den niedrigen Schulstufen wird die Leidenschaft und Neugier an der Software vermittelt Idealerweise Freie Programme um eine Gewohnheit zu erzeugen, Perfekt wäre es wenn man ein Proffessionelles werkzeug konfigurationsfrei in einem Kindermodus nutzen könnte
- In den höheren Schulen die Politische Komponente Jugendliche in der Kanti und Berufsschulen beginnen sich erstmals für Politik zu interessieren
- In den Techs und Universitäten dann der Mehrwert durch die völlige Freiheit und der Möglichkeiten.
Henne/Ei Problem sind hier die Lehrer, die nicht in der Lage sind den richtigen Unterrichtsstoff aus der Unendlichkeit des Internets heraus zu ziehen und daher bei den Offiziellen Lehrmitteln und Programmen landen die meist durch Lobby Arbeit von Software Herstellern zugeschnittene Lehrmittel und Informationen bekommen.
Meiner Meinung nach ist somit der Erfolg der wirklich Freien Software davon abhängig wie gut wir den Nachwuchs unterrichten.

Heute haben wir es überwiegend mit manipuliertem Wahlvieh zu tun (mehr von der Wirtschaft als von der Politik). Ideologie (RMS ist Weltanschauung) ist heute auf dem letzten Platz des Interesses angekommen, damit holt man wirklich niemanden mehr ab.
Wir haben nicht WPS-Office empfohlen sondern erwähnt. Und in aller Härte Pati, hör auf zu jammern wenn dir ein paar Tage vorher einfällt, dass du an jenem Wochenende zügelst; das kann ich überhaupt nicht leiden. Weniger Kritik und mehr Engagement wäre besser.
Bottom line: ich finde, wir haben es am Wochenende sehr gut gemacht und sollten diesen schmalen Pfad weiter verfolgen. Besser mit kleinen Schritten etwas erreichen als mit grossen Schritten abzustossen.
Patricia: ich meine nichts böse sondern nur konstruktiv und bin immer zum Austausch bereit.

Die Idee von: 'es müssen nur genug viele mit GNU/Linux anfangen, dann werden die automatisch zu Freie Software Menschen' geht einfach nicht auf. Dazu habe ich das jetzt schon zu lange miterlebt. Eine Rücklaufquote von ca. 1 -3% finde ich einfach zu wenig.
- Mit der Wahl kommt die Qual: Wir sollten uns meiner Meinung nach
auf einige wenige dafür starke Applikationen fokusieren (z.B. nur Libre Office und WPS Office), nur die gängigen Browser etc. Dazu die Toolpage zusammenfassen oder weglassen, da dort einige Personen überfordert waren
Ihr habt WPS Office empfohlen?

Bei der Politik ist es immer so dass man möglichst alle erreichen möchte um später aus der Menge die wenigen wirklich interessierten zu gewinnen.
Hier beim Software Gedanken, sehe ich es folgendermassen:
Für die Verbreitung gibt es das sogenannte Henne/Ei Problem.
Wenn man Möchte dass etwas verwendet wird, dann muss es schon weit verbreitet sein. Gehen wir davon aus, dass unser Ziel ist, die Wirklich Freie Software zu Propagieren. Dann müssten wir aber erst die Masse bekommen die einen Defakto Standard etabliert.
Du Patricia möchtest die hauptsächliche Verbreitung der wirklich freien Software an vor allem diejenigen die auch wieder etwas zurück geben. Diejenigen die wieder an die Freie Software beitragen sind Programmierer. Aus Erfahrung weiss ich, dass das aufopfernde leidenschaftliche an einer bestimmten Sache nur einen Bruchteil der Bevölkerung erreichen kann, was somit auch für Entwickler gilt. Alle anderen kannst du nur durch Mehrwert erreichen. Ich persönlich denke, dass wir die Leidenschaftlichen Unterstützer einer freien offenen Software alle erreichen und begeistern können. Sie sind aber leider nicht genug um Gewicht zu bekommen. Damit wir erstens die Masse erreichen und zweitens diese an den richtigen Orten bekommen, müssen wir unser Engagement also an den Stellen und zu dem Zeitpunkt machen wo wir die zukünftigen Entscheider und Nutzer finden und wo sie am empfänglichsten für die jeweiligen Themen sind. Ich sehe das Life in unserer Firma. Es ist einfach erstaunlich wie immer mal wieder Firmenentscheide für eine Software daher kommen dass die Studenten in der Uni mit unserer CAD Software gearbeitet haben.
Und dass sind wie gesagt die Schulen.
- In den niedrigen Schulstufen wird die Leidenschaft und Neugier an der Software vermittelt Idealerweise Freie Programme um eine Gewohnheit zu erzeugen, Perfekt wäre es wenn man ein Proffessionelles werkzeug konfigurationsfrei in einem Kindermodus nutzen könnte
- In den höheren Schulen die Politische Komponente Jugendliche in der Kanti und Berufsschulen beginnen sich erstmals für Politik zu interessieren
- In den Techs und Universitäten dann der Mehrwert durch die völlige Freiheit und der Möglichkeiten.
Henne/Ei Problem sind hier die Lehrer, die nicht in der Lage sind den richtigen Unterrichtsstoff aus der Unendlichkeit des Internets heraus zu ziehen und daher bei den Offiziellen Lehrmitteln und Programmen landen die meist durch Lobby Arbeit von Software Herstellern zugeschnittene Lehrmittel und Informationen bekommen.
Meiner Meinung nach ist somit der Erfolg der wirklich Freien Software davon abhängig wie gut wir den Nachwuchs unterrichten.

Am besten wäre es wenn man es schaffen könnte das ein Offizielles Lehrmittel mit freier Software arbeitet. Wir hätten hier am Stammtisch diverse die sich dafür interessieren. Diverse Diskussionen haben sich schon um schule und Kinder gedreht und wir haben auch Engagements in diesem Bereich.

Was RMS betrifft sehe ich es zum Teil ähnlich, einfach weil ich Radikalität nicht besonders mag. Kompromisse sind für mich jedoch durchaus vertretbar, wenn ich dadurch an Freiheit gewinnen kann.

Somit sind wir wieder bei der Gretchenfrage angekommen: easy GNU/Linux oder RMS?
Der Workshop am Wochenende hat es meiner Meinung nach wieder gut gezeigt: RMS ist meilenweit von den Bedürfnissen und dem Verständnis der potentiellen Anwender entfernt. Ich sehe es invers zu Pati; das Begreifen und Unterstützen des Libre-Gedankens führt über die Zwischenstufe des Wechsels zu GNU/Linux. Damit wird eine neue Welt eröffnet, die auch die Bindungsstärke zu Freien Themen vorbereitet. Bestes Beispiel dafür sind viele von uns selbst. Ich zum Beispiel, der seit zwölf Jahren GNU/Linux nutzt aber erst einige Jahre später den Freien Gedanken für sich begriffen hat. Man kann die Normaluser nicht über Nacht von Null auf Hundert bringen; die Gefahr des Abschreckens ist viel zu gross.
Manchmal kommt mir der Gedanke, dass wir unsere (noch nicht) Freie Welt nur für uns behalten möchten. Das extreme Vorgehen wäre das richtige Mittel zum Zweck. Versteht mich nicht falsch, das ist keine Kritik sondern diskussionswürdig: Zerstörung von Freier Software durch Verbreitung. Wir können das gerne beim nächsten Treffen diskutieren.
Pati, du siehst EB als Nutzniesser; ich sehe sie als Plattform und Ermöglicher. Statt weiter rumzueiern haben wir hier ein reelle Gelegenheit. Politische Sichten interessieren keine Sau (bzw. nur Minderheiten). Wer so denkt, verkennt die Realität. nennen/labeln (so ist beispielsweise WPS Office auch proprietär)
- Papier-Handout mit Kontaktmöglichkeiten. Dazu gehört eben
vielleicht auch eine Art Landing Page (Das möchte ich wirklich nochmals gerne diskutieren), sodass man die Leute auch binden kann
- Ich hätte noch einen früheren Zug kommen müssen, da der frühe Zug
ausfiel und ich so wirklich 5 Minuten vor begin ankam

Das wäre zum Beispiel eine Option. Ich würde ein Quiz machen.

Ja, er fehlt. Es war beeindruckend zu sehen mit welcher Lockerheit und Elan Elias Dinge anging und einfach gemacht hat, aber auch belastend zu erfahren, mit welcher Mühe er sich in anderen Teilen des Lebens durchkämpfen musste.

Da muss ich dir widersprechen, da ich meine investierte Freizeit doch so gestalten darf wie ich möchte (Was auch für dich und alle anderen gilt) und mich deine Aussage fast schon kränkt. Ich selber werte auch nicht über die von dir investierte Zeit - falls es trotzdem der Fall sein sollte, können wir gerne darüber reden, da das nicht meine Absicht ist.
Mir machen die kurzen Präsentationen viel Spass, man kommt mit Leuten ins Gespräch und kann sich präsentieren. Zeitlich muss man viel weniger investieren als bei einer Ubucon, Tuxcon oder sogar Froscon.
Dass wir dabei verschieden an die Sache drangehen ist mir bewusst, doch werde ich in Zukunft immer wieder an solchen Präsentationen teilnehmen, woran auch andere Personen interessiert sind wie sich am Samstag gezeigt hat.

Ich möchte dir sicher nichts absprechen und finde dein Engagement wirklich toll. Die Frage des Mehrwerts muss sich jede_r selbst stellen. Allerdings finde ich es sehr bedenklich wenn im Rahmen der FSFE und auch mit so gelabelten Slides unfreie Software propagiert wird und darauf reagiert auch der Vorstand sehr sensibel. Ich werde diese Diskussion noch einmal separat auf team@ starten um klare Richtlinien zu erhalten.

Hallo zusammen, ich bin ein stiller Nutzer der Mailinglist, weil ich halt mal in Zuerich wohne und irgendwie die FSFE unterstuetze und mir das eine oder andere Ideal halt auch etwas gibt. Da ich diesen Austausch hier mitgelesen habe, wollte ich einmal ein bisschen meine Meinung schreiben.

Und dazu gehört halt eine Distribution die einfach funktioniert (für mich Fedora oder Ubuntu). Ich kann mir nicht vorstellen, dass irgendjemand in einem Kurs sich Nächte um die Ohren schlägt um ein System zu nutzen.

Ich denke ja. Weil ich noch nie was davon gehört habe (und ich arbeite schon sicher 8 Jahre mit Linux als mein Hauptbetriebssystem).
Die 4 Freiheiten sind meiner Meinung nicht einfach ein Dogma, dass angewendet werden muss, sondern sie müssen etwas bringen. Und ich bin überzeugt, dass mit Entsprechendem Aufwand, man Dinge finden kann, wo die 4 Freiheiten einen Mehrwert bringen. Wenn am Ende einer Veranstaltung, jemand hinausgeht und denkt: Schade dass das BIOS diesen Binary Blob braucht, ansonsten könnte ich das und das machen. dann denke ich, hat man etwas in dem Menschen hinterlassen. Wenn ich allerdings rausgehe und denke, ich verzichte auf den Binary Blob, dafür geht nichts mehr oder alles ist viel muehseliger, dann fange ich damit nicht an. Präsentieren wird doch eigene Geschichten, wo wir von dem Binary Blob einen Nachteil erhielten, oder etwas nicht machen konnten, dass einfach super gewesen wäre.
Das sehe ich absolut nicht so und unsere bisherigen politischen oder auch künstlerischen Aktionen wie Freedomvote
Also das Fotobuch habe ich nicht ganz verstanden, aber das politische Engagement, dass finde ich super. Gerade bei der Bundes-IT werden so viele Software Projekte produziert, verworfen, dupliziert wer hier auf freie Software setzt, kann einen echten Mehrwert erreichen. Und wieder die 4 Freiheiten, kann man meiner Meinung nur durch realen Mehrwert motivieren, sonst ist es doch eher eine Religion.
Ich wähle Links oder Rechts (leider müssen wir immer noch in solchen Kategorien wählen) wenn Sie mir einen Mehrwert bieten, die Zeiten, dass ich einfach das wähle was meine Eltern wählten oder aus purer Ideologie lassen wir hoffentlich langsam hinter uns.
Dass war meine kurze Meinung, bin nicht mehr lange in Zürich, aber ist immer wieder gut zu sehen, dass sich Leute engagieren.

Das ist eben ein anderer Ansatz. Wenn du dich mit den Idealen der FSF und auch der FSFE beschäftigst würdest du die Empfehlungen der FSF kennen:

Das Freiheit durchaus mit Einbussen verbunden ist und einen bewussten Entscheid darstellt, weisst du sicherlich. Es wäre toll wenn die Industrie irgendwann mitspielen würde und es gibt sicher einige Projekte die das voran treiben, bis dahin kann man sich allerdings anders helfen.
Zum Beispiel indem man direkt einen Laptop mit Libreboot erwirbt und eine Freie Distro darauf betreibt. Dazu zählt aus meiner Sicht auch Debian GNU/Linux, wenn du dich auf den main Zweig beschränkst.

Das finde ich eine tolle Idee. Aktuell wird das am Beispiel der AMT Sicherheitslücken sehr deutlich oder aber auch dann wenn es um Firmware-Restriktionen bei Routern geht. Übrigens eine ganz wichtige Diskussion.

Das ist eine schwierige Diskussion und ich vergleiche es gerne mit Veganismus. Das ist für fleischessende Menschen auch schwer zu verstehen, dennoch würde der Verzicht auf Fleisch der Gesamtheit und besonders auch jedem Einzelnen sicher gut tun. Es geht darum Dinge wegzulassen die einem Schaden und auch für die Gesellschaft als ganzes nicht gut sind.
Das Fotobuch wurde übrigens aus einem ganz einfachem Grund geschaffen, um Menschen in Ihrem Alltag zu präsentieren die gerne Freie Software nutzen. Ich sehe es eher unter künstlerischen Aspekten und da gibt es viel Freiraum ;)
