How free is the Ubuntu phone?

Hello, I saw the first Ubuntu Phone is now available: http://www.bq.com/gb/ubuntu.html I am interested in how free & open it is. Does somebody here have more information? Questions that I have: Is the bootloader open source? How well is the device seperated from the modem? Are non-free programms or drivers needed? Which non-free firmware is loaded? New LibreOffice for Android app

Hi all, A new LibreOffice for Android app has been released today. If you're interested, please check it out and consider writing a review. I'm helping to promote the news for the Document Foundation and Collabora, who led development of the app. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.collabora.libreoffice More about the app: * Free Software license: MPL 2.0 [1] * Supports documents, spreadsheets and basic presentations * Handles ODF and MS Office files, including templates * Touch interface * Available from the Google Play store, apks via apk download sites [2] * Submitted to F-Droid app store * Currently beta status Limitations: * Doesn't support Android Honeycomb or below * Takes a lot of space (~140mb) * Built-in file viewer reads only internal SD storage * Can't open quite a few documents for various reasons Hopefully there will be weekly updates to the app with improvements and some new features. Your participation on IloveFS day

Dear Fellows and friends, As you may have already seen [1], this week is dedicated to the "I love Free Software" day which will take place on the upcoming Saturday, February 14. As every year we want to use Valentine's Day to not only give pleasure to our sweethearts but also to say "Thank you" to all people which are easing our daily lifes by contributing to Free Software - may they be developers, translators, activists, testers or documentalists. This year the focus is on the individuals. Most of us like some of the huge Free Software projects, but all of us also rely on smaller pieces of software. In many cases, those projects are driven by very few people who are dedicating their free and work time for the software's users. All of them deserve our appreciation! I would like to ask you and your friends to show your love individually to them on this special day. We already prepared some nice activities which will make it easy to take part in the IloveFS campaign: - For this year we created a photo gallery [2] of people showing their love to Free Software. Thanks to several people we already collected some nice pictures which might inspire you. So why not taking a camera and make a picture of you presenting your enthusiasm for Free Software and its contributors creatively? Send them to the developers or use them in your blog posts or microblogs! - The second novelty of this year's campaign are the postcards with the "I love Free Software... but I love YOU more" slogan on it. PCI SATA Controllers or SATA Multipliers?

Finding it difficult to find info. Is this ACHI a standard so I can get any ACHI Compliment SATA Controller PCI card and it will work? or are there cards that are not supported or ones that depend on non-free software? what about the state of SATA multipliers? resorting to asking for help after hours,days of searching.

France requires non-proprietary format for ebooks

Hello, Just to let you know that since December, 1st, editors must provide at least a non proprietary format for ebooks. While it's written in one of the lowest level of laws, it applies to everyone. We may see things change a bit in the coming months on online stores.
