Im folgenden eine Zusammenfassung des Treffens am 8.5.2009:

Am 8. Mai trafen sich Sandro Mathys, Andreas Burger sowie Thomas Jensch im
Zürcher Büro der FSFE.
1)
Thomas Jensch, Praktikant im Büro Zürich stellt sich nochmal persönlich vor
und wird von den Anwesenden begrüßt.
Ebenso begrüßen wir Sandro, er arbeitet bei der ETH und ist bei Fedora aktiv.
2) OpenExpo Winterhur
Diese Schweizer Messe findet am 23./24. September 2009 in Winterthur statt.
Es wird angeregt, v.a. mit Vorträgen präsent zu sein.
Thomas verfolgt das weiter.
3) parlamentarische Gruppe 'digitale Nachhaltigkeit'
Es findet ein lockerer Austausch statt. /ch/open begleitet die Gruppe aktiv.
4) Software Freedom Day
Der SFD (19.09.2009) ist ein internationaler 'Feiertag' an dem alle
Interessierten aufgefordert sind, mit Projekten, Aktionen etc. auf Freie
Software aufmerksam zu machen. In den letzten Jahren fanden u.a. öffentliche
BBQ's, Installationsparties etc. statt.
Wir haben folgende Idee diskutiert:
"Ringvorlesung an den verschiedenen Fakultäten der Zürcher Hochschulen"
Im folgenden werden Dozenten und externe Personen gesucht, die bereit sind, an
diesem Tag eine zusätzliche Veranstaltung zu halten. Diese beschäftigt sich
mit der Fragestellung 'Warum ist Freie Software für meinen Fachbereich wichtig
/ nützlich?'
Thomas unterstützt die fellows bzgl. Organisation der Räume und Koordination
mit anderen FS-Gruppen (FSFE, LUG, Bern, Basel, etc.).
Die Fellows sind angefragt, sich inhaltlich an der Vorbereitung zu beteiligen.
Mögliche Themen sind u.a.
- Einsatz Freier Software in der quantitativen Sozialforschung (Statistik-
Programme) //Bekannter v. Thomas (PoWi)
- Distributionen als Beispiel globaler Zusammenarbeit // eventuell
J.Wildeboer?
- Ideen gesucht für Fachbereiche BWL/VWL
- für die Bereiche IT sollte es nicht allzu schwer fallen, Themen/Personen zu
finden
Zieldefinition ist: 5 Vorträge an verschiedenen Fakultäten / Instituten.
Dieses Projekt soll auch über zurich@ weiterdiskutiert werden.

Es tut sich was in Bern:
Wie Infoweek.ch vom 4. Mai schreibt, haben sechs Schweizer Nationalräte die
"Parlamentarische Gruppe Digitale Nachhaltigkeit" gegründet. Sie wollen den
vermehrten Einsatz von Freier Open-Source-Software sowie offene Standards
fördern, also genau was wir seit Jahren fordern.
Infoweek schreibt weiter:
Jedoch setzt die Bundesverwaltung trotz verschiedener politischer
Vorstösse noch
immer vorwiegend auf proprietäre Software. Dies, obwohl es eigentlich
eine "Open
Source Strategie Bund" sowie eine "E-Governemnt Strategie" gäbe, die den
Gebrauch von Open-Source-Software vorgeben.
Die "Parlamentarische Gruppe Digitale Nachhaltigkeit" setzt sich aus
folgenden
Nationalräten zusammen: Walter Donzé (EVP,BE), Edith Graf-Litscher (SP,
TG),
Kathy Riklin (CVP, ZH), Alec von Graffenried (Grüne, BE), Christian
Wasserfallen
(FDP, BE), und Thomas Weibel (GLP, ZH). Nebst Open-Source-Software und
offenen
Standards will sich die Gruppe auch für Open Content und Open Access stark
machen. In den nächsten Wochen sollen verschiedene Vorstösse erarbeitet
werden.
Diese werden dann in der Sommersession des Parlaments eingereicht.

Gerade einen Tag später und nochmals heute enthüllt die NZZ einen
Knaller: Trotz
"Open-Source-Strategie schmuggelte die Bundesverwaltung ein 42 Millionen
"Upgrade" bei Microsoft-Produkten sowohl am ordentlichen
Submissionsverfahren
als auch an der Politik und der öffentlichen Meinung vorbei. Eine Gruppe
von
bisher 15 Firmen erwägt eine juristische Klage:

den Hintergrund, wie Bundespräsident Merz am diesjährigen WEF gleich als
erstes
ein Treffen mit Microsoft Gründer Bill Gates hatte, was ein Indiz für
das aus
unserer Sicht völlig unnötige Geschäft sein könnte:

Wir meinen: der Bund verschleudert Steuergelder für eine unnötige
Migration von
WindowsXP auf Vista und auf Microsoft Office 2007. Wenn schon Migration,
dann
auf Linux, Open Office und weitere Freie Open Source Software. Das
kostet zwar
auch, aber dann könnte endlich die Abhängigkeit zu einzelnen IT-Firmen
gelockert
werden, und etwas mehr davon ginge an lokale KMUs statt an die reichsten
Aktionäre der Erde. Auch bedingt Vista eine grosse Aufrüstung bei der
Hardware
und auch mehr Stromverbrauch mit sich. Das ist bei anderen
Betriebssystemen zwar
auch der Fall, aber diese arbeiten effizienter.
Mit diesem Geschäft zementiert die Regierung insbesondere ihre ständig
wachsende
Abhängigkeit von Microsoft. Wilhelm Tux Gründungsmitglied Michael Jäger
kommentiert auf seinem Blog:
Dass der Bund es nicht einmal für nötig befunden hat, die
Lizenzverlängerung als
ordentliches Ausschreibungsverfahren (inkl. Evaluation) zu gestalten,
zeigt er,
wie abhängig er heute bereits ist. Und da machen sich doch tatsächlich noch
Bürger Gedanken, weil der Staat biometrische Daten speichern will.
Wollen wir
hoffen, dass es keine Access-Datenbank wird.
