In diesem Newsletter richten wir unsere Aufmerksamkeit auf einen Aufsatz von Dr. Simon Schlauri über den Einfluss, den Freie Software auf den freien Wettbewerb hat. Wir nehmen auch die Gelegenheit wahr, über die Fortschritte zu verkünden, die wir mit dem Projekt REUSE gemacht haben um den Umgang mit Urheberrecht und Lizenzierung für Entwickler zu vereinfachen. == Freie Software und ihr Einfluss auf Wettbewerb ==
Unser Gastautor Prof. Dr. Simon Schlauri lässt uns an seinem Wissen über den Einfluss von Freier Software auf den Wettbewerb teilhaben. Der Artikel [1] erläutert die rechtlichen und ökonomischen Argumente rund um die Frage, ob das Herausgeben von Freier Software den Markt verzerrt und wurde ursprünglich für unsere "Public Money? == REUSE macht Urheberrecht und Lizenzierung einfacher als je zuvor ==
Wie Sie wahrscheinliche wissen betreibt die FSFE ein Projekt namens REUSE [2]. Sein Hauptziel ist es, Entwicklern zu helfen, die passenden Urheberrecht- und Lizenzinformationen nach empfohlenen bewährten Verfahren zu veröffentlichen. Kürzlich hat das Projekt die Version 3.0 seiner Spezifikation veröffentlicht. Mit der neuen Ausgabe wurde ein Hilfswerkzeug veröffentlicht, mit dem die Anpassung dieser bewährten Verfahren einfacher als je zuvor gemacht wird. == Nicht verpassen: kommende Veranstaltungen der FSFE ==
Wie jeden Monat versuchen wir weiterzusagen was Freie Software ist und damit Individuen und Organisationen zu helfen, zu verstehen, was das bedeutet und wie Freie Software zu Freiheit, Transparenz und Selbstbestimmung beiträgt. Wenn Sie daran interessiert sind uns in Aktion zu sehen und sich unserer Sache anzuschließen, behalten Sie die folgenden Daten und Orte in den kommenden Monaten im Auge:
- Am 19. Oktober ab 13:37 lädt der Chaos Computer Club Frankfurt und die FSFE Local Group Rhein-Main zum Hacktoberfest ein. Alle Interessierten an Freier Software sind herzlich eingeladen mitzuhacken. Weitere Infos finden sich auf der Webseite des CCC [5].
- Der Open Source Summit Europe [6] in Lyon, Frankreich findet vom 28. bis 30. Oktober statt und Max Mehl, der FSFE Programm-Manager wird über das REUSE Projekt und die Einhaltung der Freie-Software-Lizenzen sprechen.
- Vom 15. bis 16. November wird das FSFE Community Meeting gemeinsam mit der South Tyrol Free Software Conference (SFScon) [7] in Bozen in Italien stattfinden. Die FSFE wird dabei einen eigenen Track haben und Sie sind herzlich eingeladen, die Expertenvorträge anzuhören und an den Gesprächen in der Gemeinschaft und den sozialen Aktivitäten teilzunehmen. == Was haben wir gemacht? Innerhalb und außerhalb der FSFE ==
Seit dem letzten Newsletter waren wir sehr aktiv, Freie Software voranzubringen. Wir haben Einzelnen und Organisationen geholfen, besser zu verstehen, was Freie Software ist und sie ermutigt sie zu entwickeln und in ihrem täglichen Leben einzufügen. Wir möchten die Veranstaltungen, von denen wir Fotos und Videos haben, mit Ihnen unten teilen:
- Der FSFE Policy Manager Alexander Sander hat an der FrOSCon [9] teilgenommen und einen Vortrag über den aktuellen Stand der "Public Money? Public Code!" Initiative gehalten. Die vollständige Aufzeichnung ist online erhältlich [10]. Dank der lokalen FSFE-Gruppe in Bonn waren wir auch mit einem Stand präsent. Es zeigte sich, dass viele der Besucher sehr interessiert daran waren, was auf lokaler Ebene passiert und auch daran, wie sie helfen und die Sache mit konkreten Aktionen unterstützen können.
- Die häufigste Frage, mit der sich unsere Wiener FSFE-Gruppe während des lokalen Veganmania-Sommer-Festivals im August konfrontiert sah war, warum eine Software-Organisation wie die FSFE an einem veganen Festival teilnimmt. Ihre Antwort? Die gleichen ethischen Überlegungen, die Menschen dazu bringt, eine vegane Lebensweise anzunehmen, kann analog auf Informationstechnologie und die Benutzung Freier Software angewandt werden. - Auf dem Chaos Communication Camp in Mildenberg, Deutschland, das vom 21. bis 25. August stattfand, veranstaltete die FSFE ihre eigene Versammlung in dem about:freedom [12] Cluster . Über fünfzig Vorträge, Arbeitsgruppen und Gremien fanden im Laufe des Camps in diesem Cluster statt. Nachhaltigkeit von Software, Argumentationstraining für Datenschutz, Urheberrecht, Workshops zum Befreien Deines Android und Verschlüsselung und Messen der Zensur des Internets waren nur einige wenige der Themen, die die Besucher des Camps genossen. - Während der Nextcloud Conference in Berlin, die am 14. September auf dem Gelände der Technischen Universität Berlin stattfand, hat unser Policy-Manager Alexander Sander an einer Podiumsdiskussion zum Thema "Public Money? Public Code!" teilgenommen. Er debattierte für die FSFE mit Leuten von Nextcloud, dem Deutschen Bundesjugendring sowie der Open Knowledge Foundation Deutschland. - Als Ergebnis unserer Teilnahme an Veranstaltungen und Bemühungen, die "Public Money? Public Code!" Initiative weiter bekannt zu machen hat der Open Letter in den letzten zwei Monaten sechs neue unterstützende Unterschriften erhalten. Die folgenden Organisationen aus Europa und der ganzen Welt befürworten diese Prinzipien und sind vor Ort aktiv:
1. OpenSaar [16] ist eine Initiative aus der SaarLorLux-Region. Sie haben ihren Einsatz der Verbreitung von Freier Software in ihrer Region gewidmet.
2. FOSS Bangladesh [17] ist die bekannteste Freie Software Organisation in der südasiatischen Nation Bangladesh und hat mit der FSF [18] vor einiger Zeit zusammen gearbeitet.
3. Peercoin Foundation [19] ist eine internationale NGO, die für die Entwicklung einer FOSS blockchain arbeitet.
4. Computertruhe [20] ist eine Deutsche NGO, die alte Rechner repariert und sie an bedürftige Personen weitergibt.
5. Idealiste.cz [21] ist eine tschechische NGO die sich für qualitativ höherwertige öffentliche Dienste einsetzt, die für die Allgemeinheit zugänglich sind, insbesondere wenn es sich um Schulen, Krankenhäuser, öffentliche Verkehrsmittel oder Wohnen geht.
6. Liquid Democracy [22] ist eine "Denk- und Machfabrik" aus Berlin. Ihre Arbeit dreht sich um die Entwicklung von Freier und Open- Source Software und einem digitalem Mitbestimmungswerkzeug namens Adhocracy. Sie stellen Benutzern verschiedene Bürgerbeteiligungswerkzeuge zur Verfügung.
- Am 16. September verkündete eine unserer Schwesterorganisationen, die Free Software Foundation (FSF) aus U.S.A., den Rücktritt von Richard M. Stallman als ihren Präsidenten [23].
== Aus dem FSFE Planet ==
In den Monaten seit dem letzten Newsletter und der Sommerpause sind viele Dinge passiert. Einige davon sind auf Planet FSFE [24] veröffentlicht worden und stehen in direkter Verbindung mit der Foundation während andere mehr in die Richtung unserer Mission gehen:
- In seinem Aufsatz erinnert uns [25] Frank Karlitschek an das umfassendere Bild Freier Software und warum proprietäre Lösungen nicht nur eine Sache der Software-Lizenzen sind.
- Mehr technisch: Falls Sie Probleme hatten, WackoWiki zu installieren, hat Evaggelos Balaska eine nützliche Anleitung erstellt [26].
- "Sperren von nicht-vertrauenswürdigen USB-Geräten [27] ist gutes Lesematerial von Nikos Roussos, insbesondere, wenn Sie sich über digitale Sicherheit Gedanken machen.
== Werden Sie aktiv ==
Der Internet Freedom Fund ist Open Technology Funds hauptsächlicher Weg, Projekte und Menschen unterstützen, die technische Projekte, die Menschenrechte, Freiheit des Internets, offene Gesellschaften voranbringen wollen. Es geht um den sicheren nicht ausschließenden Zugang zu globalen Kommunikationsnetzen für Journalisten, Menschenrechtsaktivisten, Bürgerrechts-bewegten und alltäglichen Menschen, die in einer Umgebung der Unterdrückung leben und frei online sprechen wollen. Sie können bis zum 01.11.2019 einen Antrag für diesen Fonds [28] stellen.
