Hallo,
nachdem die Kölner sehr zeitnah über den sehr gut besuchten Freien-Software-Abend am 04.11.2019 berichtet haben, sehe auch ich mich gehalten meiner Chronistenpflicht nachzukommen.
Der reguläre Freie-Software-Abend in Düsseldorf im Oktober fand am 30.10.2019 statt. Die Atmosphäre dieses Freien-Software-Abends war besonders familiär.
Das Thema lautete: "OpenOffice - 7 Jahre Apache Top-Level-Project"
Nach relativ kurzer Zeit im Incubator ist OpenOffice seit 7 Jahren ein Apache Top-Level-Project. Die Beziehung der OpenOffice-Community zur Apache Software Foundation war anfänglich nicht ganz einfach. Daher bot es sich an - auch weil OpenOffice im nächsten Jahr seit zwanzig Jahren Freie Software ist - Bilanz zu ziehen.
Der Referent beschrieb die historische Entwickung des OpenOffice-Projektes und kurz die Struktur der Apache Software Foundation mit ihren zahlreichen Projekten, unter den OpenOffice gewissermaßen besondere Eigenschaften aufweist. Kurz wurde auch der Lebenszyklus eines Apache-Projektes "Incubator - Top-Level-Projekt - Attic" erläutert.
Die Kultur des OpenOffice.org-Projektes war, so berichtete der Referent, solange SUN und die Stardivision existierte, von einer Company-Community-Partnership geprägt. Dies erlaubte der Community sich zwanglos breit zu entfalten und vielfältige Aufgaben zu übernehmen.
Der erste Einschnitt war der Fork durch LibreOffice, der die personellen Ressourcen der OpenOffice.org-Community schwächte. Dennoch konnten die wesentlichen Aufgaben weiterhin recht gut wahrgenommen werden. Dann ging es, weil es Oracle so wollte, auf den "Apache-Way". Da jedoch das Engagement von Unternehmen für OpenOffice schwand, gab es den zweiten großen Einschnitt, las sich die Community als nahezu reines "Hobby-Projekt" um Dinge wie Entwicklung und Bauen kümmern musste. Hier war es zunächst nötig, Erfahrungen zu sammeln. Derzeit ist die Community auf einem guten Wege Menschen zu finden und heranzubilden, die in der Lage sind, die notwendigen Aufgaben zu übernehmen und zu meistern. Von den übrigen "Apachen" gibt es - trotz manchen Erklärungsbedarfs hinsichtlich der erwähnten Besonderheiten - eine manchmal überraschend breite wohlwollende Unterstützung.
Der Rest des Abend wurde der allgemeinen Diskussion gewidmet. Vom Gang in eine naheliegende Gastwirtschaft wurde wegen des Schlafbedürfnisses besonders eines Teilnehmers abgesehen
Verglichen mit der höchst erfreulichen dynamischen Entwicklung in Köln scheint in Düsseldorf, vor allem was die Teilnehmerzahlen angeht, nach über 10 Jahren etwas "die Luft 'raus' zu sein. Dies ist jedoch aus der Sicht des hiesigen Koordinators kein Grund aufzuhören, sondern eher ein Ansporn. Es soll auch im nächsten Jahr versucht werden, mit interessanten Themen und mit formalen Experimenten Interesse zu wecken.

Der nächste reguläre Freie-Software-Abend in Düsseldorf findet am
27.11.2019 ab 19:30 Uhr
wieder im Hause Rochusstr. 44, 40479 Düsseldorf, statt. Da im Dezember traditionellerweise kein Freier-Software_Abend stattfindet, ist die der letzte reguläre Freie-Software-Abend in Düsseldorf in diesem Jahr.
Alexander Kulbartsch hat sich erfreulicherweise bereit erklärt, einen Vortrag mit Workshop zum Thema Dezentralisierung mit Peer-to-Peer-Technology an zwei Beispielen - ein Workshop zu halten. Der konkrete Titel mag sich noch etwas ändern. Nach einer kleinen Einführung mit Präsentation möchte Alexander gerne in einem Workshop mit den Teilnehmern das praktisch ausprobieren.
_Es sollten also Notebooks mitgebracht werden._
Da ein WLAN mit Internet hierfür wünschenswert ist, wird der Abend - sofern die Teilnehmerzahl nicht "explodiert" - wahrscheinlich in der Geschäftsstelle stattfinden.

Wo ist denn dieser Bericht zu finden? Ich habe cologne@lists.fsfe.org abonniert, dort aber seit Februar keine Mail mehr erhalten.

Hallo,
die lokale FSFE-Community in Köln ist anscheinend tot.
Dies ist auch ein Grund dafür gewesen, dass es die Freien Software Freunde gewagt haben, "ihren" Freien-Software-Abend nach Köln zu "exportieren" (; ein anderer Grund dafür ist, dass wir dort auch Mitglieder und Freunde haben).
Da der Düsseldorfer Freie-Software-Abend sich durchaus in der Tradition des ehemaligen dortigen sogenannten "Fellowship-Treffens" sieht, publizieren wir nicht nur unsere Ankündigungen, sondern auch unsere Berichte weiterhin auch auf FSFE-Mailinglisten.
Demgegenüber haben die Kölner bislang Zugang zur Mailingliste, die von unserem Verein betrieben wird und die nicht im WWW gespiegelt wird, und freundlicherweise auch Zugang zu Ressourcen des C4 bzw. CCC.
(Die Liste cologne@lists.fsfe.org wäre noch ein Thema für sich.)
Eine Liste für die gesamte rheinische Freie Software Bewegung könnte rheinland@lists.fsfe.org sein. (Unser Verhältnis zur Bonner FSFE-Community ist erfreulich gut.)
Der rezente Status ist, dass Menschen auf FSFE-Mailinglisten nur indirekt etwas über unsere Aktivitäten in Köln erfahren. Er ist jedoch veränderbar.
Stellungnahmen und Anregungen sehe ich mit großem Interesse entgegen.
In Köln werden übrigens die Vorträge regelmäßig auf Video aufgenommen und über media.ccc.de veröffentlicht.

Das ist das Video vom vorherigen Monat. Da das VOC (Video-Team) ehrenamtlich, freiwillig und aus Freundschaft arbeitet, kann es etwas dauern, bis das Video veröffentlichungsreif ist.
Der Vortrag dauerte auch etwas länger, sodass mehr Material zu bearbeiten ist.
Kommt Zeit, kommt Video.
