Hi, die Seite hat mir schon sehr weitergeholfen, aber kann es sein, dass Windows in der Eula von Windows 7 nachgebessert hat?
Falls Sie die Bestimmungen nicht akzeptieren, sind Sie nicht berechtigt, die Software zu verwenden. Wenden Sie sich stattdessen an den Hersteller bzw. das Installationsunternehmen, um von diesem seine Richtlinien für eine Rückgabe in Erfahrung zu bringen. Sie sind verpflichtet, jene Richtlinien einzuhalten. Diese beschränken möglicherweise Ihre Rechte oder verlangen von Ihnen, das gesamte System zurückzugeben, auf dem die Software installiert ist.
Ich brauche das Windows, dass bei dem gekauften Dell Vostro 3500 dabei sein wird nicht. Doch was mache ich, wenn Dell nur die option bietet das Notebook zurück zu schicken? Ich möchte das Notebook gerne haben, bloß nicht M$ unterstützen....
Oder
...das Betriebssystem [stellt] aus unsere Sicht einen integralen Bestandteil des jeweiligen dar.

Zuerst würde ich wirklich direkt bei Dell nachfragen. Vielleicht sind sie ja weniger ignorant als manch andere Hersteller.
Anderenfalls kannst du versuchen, dein Recht einzuklagen. Kommst du damit durch, wäre das ein wundervoller Präzedenzfall. Allerdings solltest du das wirklich nur dann tun, wenn es dir absolut ums Prinzip und nicht ums Geld geht ... und wenn du von letzterem zu viel bei dir herumzuliegen hast. ;-)
Sonst bleibt dir nur eines: Verzichte auf den Kauf! Mache deine Drohung ernst und gib das Gerät zurück, mit genau der Begründung, dass du eigentlich nur das OS zurückgeben möchtest, was dir leider verwehrt wurde.
Suche dir stattdessen einen Hersteller, der deinen Bedürfnissen möglichst nahe kommt und sich nicht so affig anstellt. Das Betriebssystem als "integraler Bestandteil" des Geräts, was für ein Humbug! Das war vielleicht noch zu Zeiten der PDP-11 der Fall, wenn überhaupt.
Einen besseren Hersteller empfehlen kann ich dir leider nicht, daher hoffe ich, dass du bei Dell Erfolg hast. Ich benutze Lenovo (Thinkpad), aber da gibt es gemischte Berichte - sowohl von Leuten, die die Windows- Steuer erstattet bekamen als auch von solchen, die das nicht geschafft haben.

Ich bin ja generell dafür die Windows-Steuer nach Möglichkeit gar nicht erst zu zahlen, dann braucht man sie auch nicht zurückfordern.
Stattdessen kann man sein kleines Bisschen Marktmacht dazu zu nutzen die übrigen Hersteller und Anbieter vor der Pleite zu retten.

Nun, so weit brauchst du da auch nicht zurück gehen.
Zu Zeiten des Heimcomputers (8-Bit Ära) war das Betriebssystem tatsächlich noch Bestandteil des Computers. Das war da dann aber auch wirklich im ROM drin und konnte gar nicht ausgetauscht werden.
Die Benutzeroberfläche war damals noch üblicherweise ein BASIC-Interpreter. Ein Computer ohne integrierte Programmiersprache war damals undenkbar. Was sollte man mit sowas denn schon anfangen können?
Programme bekam man damals noch über Zeitschriften. Nein, da waren keine Kassetten bei (damals übliche Datenträger), man hat die Programme damals wirklich stundenlang von sogenanneten "Listings" abgetippt. Es gab da Zeitschriften, die sich fast ausschließlich auf Listings spezialisiert hatten. Ja, damals war es noch normal, dass man den Quelltext zu seinen Programmen hatte. Und beim Abtippen hat man auch einiges gelernt.

Nun, das soll jetzt nicht in eine Glorifizierung der Vergangenheit ausarten. Natürlich ist es besser, wenn das Betriebssystem nicht im ROM des Computers unterbringt, sondern man die Wahl hat, was man darauf installiert. Das heißt, es wäre besser, wenn man die freie Wahl hätte.
Bei CD-Playern würde man es doch auch nicht akzeptieren, wenn da zwangsweise die CDs eines bestimmten Schlager-Stars dabei wäre, mit der Begründung, die CDs von dem kauft sich doch eh jeder. Die Frage ist doch, würde sie auch jeder kaufen, wenn sie einem nicht so aufgedrängt werden?

Nee, nicht wirklich. Die Berichte zeigen ein ziemlich klares Bild: Es ging eine Zeit lang, und dann nicht mehr. Aus, vorbei.
Der wohl einzige Ausweg ist wohl, im Ausland zu bestellen... Da hat man mitunter eine Wahl.
(Lenovo soll zum Beispiel in UK auch Rechner ohne MS-Steuer verkaufen, habe ich mir neulich sagen lassen -- hab's aber nicht nachgeprüft. An sonsten USA.)

Lauter Billigst-Schrott den man nicht haben will. Da ist kein einziges richtiges Thinkpad bei.
(Bei dem "Edge" kann man sich streiten, ob es wirklich ein Thinkpad ist -- aber so oder so ist auch hier nur die Billigst-Variante mit Scheißprozessor bei...)

Habe jetzt Mal wieder nachgeschaut; und feststellen müssen, dass die Globalisierung zugeschlagen hat -- man kann jetzt auch in den USA keine ThinkPads ohne MS-Steuer mehr bestellen. (Früher konnte man Windows noch abwählen, wenn man im Online-Shop die Konfiguration angepasst hat...) Welch Fortschritt!

Es geht aber noch besser: Die Linux Foundation "wirbt" damit, dass man als Mitglied bei einigen Herstellern - etwa Lenovo - billiger einkauft. Dafür gibt es quasi einen eigenen Store und siehe da: Die Geräte kann man nur mit Windows bestellen! Absurd? Irgendwie schon.
