Wir sind kein Tool ums explizit Youtube Content herunter zu laden. Ja das kann man mit NewPipe zwar auch machen, aber in erster Linie sind wir ein tool um YouTube Inhalte ohne den gesamten Google Stack und dessen tracking ansehen zu können. NewPipe erlaubt es darüber hinaus ja auch. Darüber hinaus erlaubt nicht unsere Webseite das Ansehen von YouTube Inhalten sondern unsere App.

also erst mal tief durchatmen würde ich sagen, denn ich habe den Eindruck hier gehen einige Sachen durcheinander. Also auf Google gelistet ist NewPipe ja nach wie vor, der erste Treffer ist bei mir F-Droid und dann kommt die Website, also da sehe ich erst mal keine Änderung.
Und dann ist da die DMCA-Takedown-Notice, die es eventuell gibt. Sehe ich das richtig, dass ihr da gar nichts bekommen habt? Also zumindest das verlinkte Dokument (ja, ich hab die zweite Mail auch gelesen) geht ja an Google, d.h. die werden aufgefordert euch nicht mehr zu listen oder so. Aber wenn es an euch ginge, hättet ihr da ja selber was bekommen, vermutlich sogar per Post, weil das bei euch ja vermutlich nur so geht. Also von daher braucht ihr denke ich erst mal gar nichts machen und könnt abwarten und beobachten was passiert.
Der Fall mit Invidious ist anders, weil Google da selber gegen die Entwickler vorgeht. Beides ist aus meiner Sicht aber Unsinn. In eurem Fall ginge es ja um Urheberrechtsverletzungen und da es bei Youtube keinen Kopierschutz gibt, sehe ich da als Laie zumindest keinen Rechtsverstoß, denn das ist ja erst mal eine Privatkopie. Dass das gegen Youtubes TOS verstößt, wenn ich da was runterlade, das mag sein, aber da wünsche ich Google viel Glück, mich auszusperren wenn ich mit wechselnden IPs komme.
Leider sehe ich aber die Richtung dahin gehen, dass Youtube irgendwann auch einen Kopierschutz einführt, der natürlich nicht ernsthaft wirksam ist, aber halt ausreichend, um so manchen Richter zu überzeugen und dann habt ihr ein Problem. Der Grund, warum ich denke, dass es langfristig dahin geht, ist, dass Youtube ein Geschäftsmodell hat, das Leute durch nervige Werbung dazu bringt, direkt Geld zu zahlen und das funktioniert nur wenn man die Werbung nicht anderweitig los wird. Und Plattenfirmen drängen auch immer mal wieder darauf, weil ihnen ja irgendwelche weitgehend fiktiven Gewinne entgehen wenn jemand ein Musikvideo lokal speichert. Das wird aber halt auch erst eine Urheberrechtsverletzung wenn ein Kopierschutz dran ist und ich denke deswegen wird es langfristig kommen.

Das stimmt, GitHub und die F-Droid Seite sind noch erreichbar, damit ist es natürlich kein absoluter stillstand für uns. Dennoch stellt das ganze eine Behinderung für uns dar, denn bisher hat uns die Webseite mit genau einer Frage geholfen: Wie bekommen wir nicht Teckies dazu NewPipe herunter zu laden? - Im PlayStore sind wir nicht, da wir dort nicht sein dürfen. - Auf den github link klickt ein "nicht teckie" selten, weil das zu kompliziert ist. Das einfachste bisher war es "such einfach nach newpipe und lad das runter" zu sagen. Menschen gehen auf die Webseite sehen unser Logo und einen Download button und können NewPipe gleich beziehen. Wir haben hier auch F-Droid als option verlinkt. Es kann gut sein, dass so manch einer dadurch überhaupt zum ersten mal mit F-Droid in Berührung gekommen ist.
Kurzum wir haben eine große Nutzerbasis an "casual" Nutzern. Die über unsere Webseite an NewPipe oder F-Droid gelangt sind. Diese Nutzerbasis fällt uns weg oder verkleinert sich wenn wir nicht mehr auffindbar sind.

Die Takedown Notice gibt es. Wir haben uns vorhin im Durcheinander etwas vertan. Wenn man nach "newpipe" sucht bekommt man am Ende des Suchergebnisses angezeigt, dass Ergebnisse aufgrund dieses DMCAs entfernt wurden: https://lumendatabase.org/notices/34149383#

Ja das stimmt, unser fall schlägt in eine ähnliche Kerbe ist aber in Größe und Umfang eher Harmlos im Gegensatz zu dem was invidio.us passiert ist.

Und es erzeugt auch bei anderen Gefahren für Demokratie und Gesellschaft einen zentralen Angriffspunkt. Beispiele für Gefahren sind Vorzensur, Repression von Gruppen oder die Aufregungsökonomie.
Aus meiner Sicht lohnt es deshalb Alternativen aufzubauen, zu nutzen und zu finanzieren. * Der Verein https://suma-ev.de/ beschäftigt sich, z.B. mit Suchmaschinen. * F-Droid wird oft für Android als sicherer App-Store empfohlen. * Das Fediverse mit Peertube

ich habe vor Jahren in F-Droid einfach "Youtube" eingegeben. Dabei habe ich NewPipe gefunden und wir sind ziemlich zügig Nutzer geworden. Wir hatten vorher allerdings bereits eben F-Droid im Einsatz und damit vermutlich bereits im Spektrum gewesen, also nicht von "außen" neu dazu gekommen.

Das möchte ich unterstreichen.
Grundsätzlich sollten wir aufhören, Zeug um Walled Gardens und aus anderen Gründen schädliche Plattformen drumherum zu bauen. Wir tragen damit zu deren Verbreitung bei und suggerieren Nutzenden, alles wäre super, wenn sie nur einen anderen YouTube-Client benutzen. Ich merke das z.B. auch im Fediverse. Immer, wenn ich jemanden bitte, sein Video doch auf einer freien Plattform hochzuladen statt mich zu YouTube zu schicken, kommt als Reaktion, ich solle doch einfach Inviduous benutzen.
Ich kann nachvollziehen, weshalb wir das tun: Wir wollen Leute "da abholen, wo sie sind", wir wollen die Nutzung zumindest ein bisschen sicherer und freier machen,…
Aber in Wahrheit ist es doch ein Akt der Verzweiflung: Wir haben eingesehen, dass die Walled Gardens die größere Macht haben und dass wir denen kaum User mit freien Plattformen abgraben. Also versuchen wir es mit Wrappern.
Wieso gönnen wir GAFAM diesen Sieg? Wieso helfen wir ihnen noch dabei, den Teil "datenschutz-bewusst, aber nicht zu radikal" des User-Spektrums zu behalten, indem wir ihnen Apps bauen, die YouTube & Co. gerade so erträglich für sie machen, dass sie der Plattform nicht weglaufen?
Aber auch: Wieso kämpft Google gegen uns? Klar, wegen der Werbung, von mir aus. Aber dann wiederum helfen wir ihnen, User zu binden, und ich glaube nicht, dass das so viele sind, dass die ausgefallenen Werbeeinnahmen auffallen.
Es wird Zeit, dass Apps wie NewPipe große schwarze Todesanzeigen auf ihre Website machen und, sachlich aber klar und deutlich, erklären, dass Google & Co. bösartig sind und wir sie nicht länger mit Usern füttern wollen. Mit Link zu einer Anleitung, wie man erst seinen YouTube-Kanal auf PeerTube mirrort und dann ganz umsteigt. Die wenigsten werden das tun. Aber irgendwann muss der Schnitt gemacht werden. Und vielleicht ist jetzt, mit Twitter und Reddit als unfreiwillige Allies in der Kampagne, genau der richtige Zeitpunkt.
Disclaimer: NewPipe und ähnliche Apps sind eine tolle Leistung. Euren Einsatz soll diese Sichtweise nicht herabwürdigen!

Deine Wut auf Entwicklungen welche uns von großen IT-Unternehmen abhängiger machen und diese uns überwachen, kann aus Deinem Beitrag herauslesen und ich teile sie.

Daran finde ich gerade so toll, dass diejenigen belohnt werden, welche z.B. Fdroid nutzen. Und es das Weggehen vom Google-Konto oder ausführen von Code durch Google leichter macht.
Was ich für ein viel größeres Hinterniss halte, ist die Finanzierung von datenschutzfreundlichen Diensten und Anwendungen. Wer ist bereit dafür zu bezahlen? Bessere Dienstleister gibt es ja, z.B. posteo.de, mailbox.org oder auch den freundlichen Mastodon Server Betreibenden. (Ja, ich bezahle für so was.)

Deine Sichtweise ist leider beschränkt auf Deine persönlichen Interessen.
Wer Mainstream-Musik ohne Überwachung hören will, kommt an Youtube über Freetube/Newpipe nicht vorbei. Alle anderen einschlägigen Dienste erfodern ein Login und tracken. Wie Du auf der Newpipe-Webseite unschwer erkennen kannst, ist Musik auch der Hauptzweck dieser App. Deswegen geht Deine Kritik völlig am Ziel vorbei. Du wirst kaum major labels von peertube überzeugen können.
Dass große Projekte wie zB Freecodecamp gern einen eigenen peertube server betreiben könnten, ist eine völlig andere Frage. Damit landen wir aber bei Infrastruktur-Problemen: Wer organisiert und finanziert die nötige Speicherkapaziät und Bandbreite? Die Nutzer sollen und können das nicht, denn Freecodecamp möchte in jeder Hinsicht frei sein, vor allem auch für Menschen in bildungstechnisch benachteiligten Ländern. Und Freecodecamp kann das nicht - da ist nämlich nicht nur riesige Speicherkapazität notwendig, sondern auch verteilte Infrastruktur. Ein 7-Std-Video von einem US-Server lädst Du ohne die Infrastruktur von GAFAM nicht mal eben so (in D jedenfalls nicht und vermutlich auch nicht in Zimbabwe oder Uzbekistan). Der Untertitel-Dienst von Youtube ist für sowas auch wichtig. Auch hier geht Deine Kritik am Ziel vorbei.
Mal ganz abgesehen von den unbrauchbaren Einschränkungen bei der Projekt-Administration innerhalb von peertube, auf die ich hier gar nicht eingehen will.
Deshalb sind youtube-dl und die darauf basierenden GUI-Projekte von unschätzbarem Wert. Es gibt eben keinen realistischen Ersatz.

Wir tragen damit zu deren Verbreitung bei und suggerieren Nutzenden, alles wäre super, wenn sie nur einen anderen YouTube-Client benutzen. Ich merke das z.B. auch im Fediverse. Immer, wenn ich jemanden bitte, sein Video doch auf einer freien Plattform hochzuladen statt mich zu YouTube zu schicken, kommt als Reaktion, ich solle doch einfach Inviduous benutzen.
Ich kann nachvollziehen, weshalb wir das tun: Wir wollen Leute "da abholen, wo sie sind", wir wollen die Nutzung zumindest ein bisschen sicherer und freier machen,…
Aber in Wahrheit ist es doch ein Akt der Verzweiflung: Wir haben eingesehen, dass die Walled Gardens die größere Macht haben und dass wir denen kaum User mit freien Plattformen abgraben. Also versuchen wir es mit Wrappern.
Wieso gönnen wir GAFAM diesen Sieg? Wieso helfen wir ihnen noch dabei, den Teil "datenschutz-bewusst, aber nicht zu radikal" des User-Spektrums zu behalten, indem wir ihnen Apps bauen, die YouTube & Co. gerade so erträglich für sie machen, dass sie der Plattform nicht weglaufen?
Aber auch: Wieso kämpft Google gegen uns? Klar, wegen der Werbung, von mir aus. Aber dann wiederum helfen wir ihnen, User zu binden, und ich glaube nicht, dass das so viele sind, dass die ausgefallenen Werbeeinnahmen auffallen.
Es wird Zeit, dass Apps wie NewPipe große schwarze Todesanzeigen auf ihre Website machen und, sachlich aber klar und deutlich, erklären, dass Google & Co. bösartig sind und wir sie nicht länger mit Usern füttern wollen. Mit Link zu einer Anleitung, wie man erst seinen YouTube-Kanal auf PeerTube mirrort und dann ganz umsteigt. Die wenigsten werden das tun. Aber irgendwann muss der Schnitt gemacht werden. Und vielleicht ist jetzt, mit Twitter und Reddit als unfreiwillige Allies in der Kampagne, genau der richtige Zeitpunkt.
Disclaimer: NewPipe und ähnliche Apps sind eine tolle Leistung. Euren Einsatz soll diese Sichtweise nicht herabwürdigen!

Das ist Deine ganz persönliche Lösung, geboren aus dem Luxus, über die entsprechenden Geräte zu verfügen. Viele Leute haben weder einen CD-Player noch einen Plattenspieler - übrigens häufig auch keinen Lap- oder Desktop, sondern nur ein Smartphone. Das gilt insbesondere für Kinder, Menschen mit wenig Geld und Menschen aus Afrika/Asien/Lateinamerika. Radio (= anderer Leute playlists) ist auch nicht für jeden.

1. lumendatabase.org ist ein research project der Harvard University. Was da steht, hat keinerlei rechtliche Bedeutung.
2. Hast Du auf der Seite mal "Click here to request access and see full URLs" gemacht? Ich kann das nicht sehen. Kann nicht schaden.
3. Google - und nicht Du - hat eine DMCA bekommen von "Because Music" Sitz: Kayman Islands, das ist völlig eindeutig.
4. Hat Google Dir das mitgeteilt? Oder wie bist Du darauf gekommen?
*** 5. Entscheidender Punkt: Hast Du oder sonst wer vom Projekt irgendwas bekommen? *** Mitteilung, Brief, Email?
Solange Ihr nichts bekommt, müßt Ihr auch nix machen. Ohne konkrete Angaben zu *Punkt 5* können wir aber auch nur rumrätseln und das bringt nix.
Aber wie Florian schon schrieb: Es gibt eine Tendenz in der Copyright-Mafia und immer wieder Versuche in die Richtung. Es kann also nichts schaden, sich auf solche Probleme vorzubereiten. Dazu kommt gleich noch eine private Mail.

In eurem Fall ginge es ja um Urheberrechtsverletzungen und da es bei Youtube keinen Kopierschutz gibt, sehe ich da als Laie zumindest keinen Rechtsverstoß, denn das ist ja erst mal eine Privatkopie. Dass das gegen Youtubes TOS verstößt, wenn ich da was runterlade, das mag sein, aber da wünsche ich Google viel Glück, mich auszusperren wenn ich mit wechselnden IPs komme.
Leider sehe ich aber die Richtung dahin gehen, dass Youtube irgendwann auch einen Kopierschutz einführt, der natürlich nicht ernsthaft wirksam ist, aber halt ausreichend, um so manchen Richter zu überzeugen und dann habt ihr ein Problem. Der Grund, warum ich denke, dass es langfristig dahin geht, ist, dass Youtube ein Geschäftsmodell hat, das Leute durch nervige Werbung dazu bringt, direkt Geld zu zahlen und das funktioniert nur wenn man die Werbung nicht anderweitig los wird. Und Plattenfirmen drängen auch immer mal wieder darauf, weil ihnen ja irgendwelche weitgehend fiktiven Gewinne entgehen wenn jemand ein Musikvideo lokal speichert. Das wird aber halt auch erst eine Urheberrechtsverletzung wenn ein Kopierschutz dran ist und ich denke deswegen wird es langfristig kommen.
