Thema des Abends ist Redis
Redis [0] ist ein multi-modales NoSQL-Datenbankmanagementsystem. Der Name entstand als Abkürzung für remote dictionary server. Redis soll der verbreitetste "Schlüssel-Werte"(key-value)-Speicher sein. Vorteil ist die Schnelligkeit.
Der offizielle Teil des Treffens beginnt um 20:00 Uhr. Wer später kommt, verpasst also etwas.

Redis ist **kein** Datenbankmanagementsystem. Zumindest nicht so, wie man den Begriff üblicherweise verwendet.
Nicht, dass das hier jemand in Produktion versucht und sich dann wundert — Redis ist schnell, ja, und das eben weil es eine **In-Memory-Datenstruktur** ist. Redis ist so konzipiert, dass Daten jederzeit verschwinden können. Also by design tun sie das, und damit muss die Anwendung klarkommen. Redis **kann** ins Dateisystem persistieren, aber nur als kleine Hilfe, dass man Redis nicht nach einem Neustart immer neu befüllen muss. Aber darauf verlassen darf man sich nicht, es ist nur für kurzliebige Daten wie Caching oder Message Brokerage geeignet.
