dieser Tage war MS mit einer IT Initiative in den "Tagesthemen" [1]. Sehr schön fand ich, daß MS nicht als uneigennütziger Spender sondern als Wirtschaftsunternehmen mit langfristigen Interessen präsentiert wurde. Besonders Anne Will hat Bill Gates im Interview mit GNU/Linux und dem Kartellverfahren gezwiebelt. Leider hat Gates noch besser geantwortet als sie gefragt hat....

mplayer nutzt für RealVideo 1.0 & 2.0 die libavcodec welche beide unter GPL stehen.
Für RealVideo 3.0 & 4.0 habe ich noch keine Lösung ... hierfür würde mplayer die win32-codecs nutzen welche u.a. Windows dlls enthalten. Diese dlls sind aber sicher keine Freie Software:(

Also gehe ich mal davon aus, dass es sich um neuere RealVideo Versionen handelt und ich sie nicht mit Freier Software abspielen kann.
Das deckt sich mit zwei anderen Antworten, welche ich persönlich bekommen habe. Ich hatte das Abspielen auf einem ppc probiert, wo windows Bibliotheken vermutlich so leicht nicht funktionieren. (An dieser Stelle fällt mir wieder ein, dass Freie Software erstmals uns Kunden die Wahl der Hardware wieder vergrößtert haben. Leider gibt es mit dem Ausstieg von Apple aus der ppc Laptop-Welt keine andere Hardware-Architektur für "normale" Endkunden mehr. :( )

Ja es interessiert mich, weil Wettbewerb auch Kundenvorteile bedeutet. Und Vorteile für die Freiheit entspricht, sonst nimmt uns eine dieser "winzig-kleinen" Leiterbahnen einfach mal eine paar Möglichkeiten weg und bei nur einem Hersteller....
Ich will nicht selbst wissen, wie die Leiterbahnen funktionieren, aber ich möchte, dass es mehrere Leute gibt, die das tun und Alternativen anbieten.
