ich habe neulich in der sächsischen Zeitung einen Artikel (siehe Anhang "Die richtige Software für den PC.JPG") über "Die richtige Software für den PC" gelesen. Dort stand unter anderem auch (siehe Anhang "kostenlose Software.JPG") die Definition von Freeware:
Der Anwender zahlt weder fürs Herunterladen noch für die Benutzung Geld. Alternative Bezeichnungen sind "Open Source" oder "GPL".
Ich finde es okay, wenn man freie Software in den Freewaretopf wirft, schließlich ist sie _auch_ kostenlos. Aber Freeware = "Open Source" = "GPL" hat mich dann schon sehr sauer gemacht.
Sollte man sich da einmal beschweren oder sollten wir uns lieber freuen, dass sie für (als Freeware deklarierte) freie Software Werbung machen?

ich bin der Meinung das z.B. die FSFE eine Gegendarstellung verlangen sollte.
Da eine Gegendarstellung aber nur so groß ist, wie der eigentliche Artikel um den es ging, kann nicht wirklich viel Platz für die Richtigstellung verwendet werden.

Ich will eigentlich die Zeitungen nicht zwingen müssen dies anders darzustellen. Ich denke es ist besser, wenn Joachim (zusätzlich zu dem Leserbrief von Michael) anruft und ihnen die Unterschiede erklärt. Vielleicht kann er sie dafür begeistern einen größeren Artikel zu Freier Software zu machen.

Ich würde der Zeitung einen freundlichen Leserbrief schreiben und darin erklären, was der Unterschied zwischen den genannten Begriffen ist.
Freeware = kostenlos Freie Software = freie Benutzung, Studium, Weitergabe, Anpassung Open Source = Marketingbegriff für Freie Software GPL = Freie Software Lizenz

Jedem können Fehler passieren und ich glaube nicht. Es ist aber wichtig, dass wir den Journalisten die Unterschiede erklären, damit diese das Thema besser verstehen.
