Wir fuehren diese Diskussion einfach in fsfe-de weiter.
Fuer fsfe-de Leser: es geht dabei um um meine Antwort auf die Kolumne im Linux-Magazin, die sich auf freie 3D Spiele/Modeller bezog:

Das versteht ich dann sogar.
Wie ich Georg verstanden habe, möchte er mehr Spiele in der Kolumne vorstellen ansonsten müssen die Vorschläge direkter an das Linux-Magain herangetragen werden.
Alleine Spiele vorzustellen bringt nichts.
Wir waere es lieber ihr stellt die 3D-libraries/engines vor, auf der die Spiele basieren und zeigt, wie man selbst Spiele schreibt.
Georg und ich sind ja nicht das Linux-Magazin und habe keine Entscheidungsgewalt. Ich kann mir aber vorstellen, dass das Linux-Magazin an einem Artikel von Dir interessiert ist. Hättest Du u.U. Lust einen zu schreiben?
Lust eigentlich schon, nur habe ich in Wirklichkeit zu wenig Ahnung um mein Maul gross aufzureissen, dass muss ich selber zugeben.
Ein Vorschlag waere, in der plib-devel mailingliste nachzufragen, ob die fuers Linux-Magazin ein Tutorial schreiben wollen - in der Liste sind auch noch ein paar andere deutschsprachige.

Frage: In der Kolumne wird von 'proprietaeren Produkten, die oft vordergruendig guenstig zu haben sind' geredet.
Was ist damit gemeint? 3D Studio MAX ist nicht gerade guenstig (es sei denn ihr bezieht euch darauf dass sowieso fast jeder ne Raubkopie davon im Keller hat....) ?

Vielleicht gibt es auch schon was und es wird nicht genug gewürdigt. Hier kann Aufklärungsarbeit wahrscheinlich wirklich helfen. Wir angehende Künstler wäre es auch ein Feld, um viel Rückmeldung und Raum zur Darstellung in einem Freien Spielprojekt zu bekommen.
Mir schein Parsec und Acorn gehen ganz gut in diese Richtung. FreeCiv wird auch immer besser, ist aber keine 3d Spiel...

Hast Du Lust das dort mal anzuregen? Ansonsten habe ich bemerkt, dass die Loki Leute ein Buch geschrieben haben, weiss das wer was drüber ob das gut ist? Eine Literaturliste könnte ja auch schon helfen.

Textadventures a la Infocom, oder wie hiessen die?
Nethack etc sind zwar immer noch toll, trotz ihrer Graphik (welcher?) - ich selbst stand schon aufm C64 auf Thrust und war happy als ich xthrust entdeckt habe, aber den Windows-verwoehnten wird das nicht mehr hinterm Ofen hervorlocken.
Und es bringt auf Dauer nix, wenn nur Freaks wie ich Linux-Spiele spielen, freie Software sollte zeigen dass sie auch mit kommerziellen Spielen aus diesem Zeitalter mithalten kann.
Kann sie das?

Mir waere am wichtigsten, wenn den Lesern div. Computerzeitschriften klar gemacht werden wuerde, dass Programmierer im Normalfall extrem beschisse Graphiker und 3D Artists sind - und deshalb brauchen Spiele-Programmierer Leute, die zwar nicht programmieren koennen, dafuer aber 3D Modelle und Texturen (und Sounds!) erschaffen koennen.
Der Applikationsprogrammierer kann notfalls alles selber machen - der Spieleprogrammierer nicht.

Protest! Parsec ist keine freie freie Software!
Parsec ist vielleicht frei wie Bier aber es ist proprietaerer closed source - sonst waer ich da schon laengst Mitglied.

Ich fuerchte ich habe in den Anfangstagen von TuxFleet mein Maul in der plib-devel viel zu voll genommen, ich vermute eigentlich, dass ich in diversen killfiles stehe - so ist das Leben.

Ich hab mir auch mal ueberlegt fuer TuxFleet einen 'Model Editor' zu schreiben - allerdings nur so einen, der neue Modelle aus bestehenden Ploygonnetze zusammenfuegen kann, wie ich mit plib neue Polygone erzeuge hab ich nie versucht, das geht ueber meinen Horizont.

Oder man macht es so, dass die jeweiligen Entwickler - oder auch andere Interessierte - Links einschicken koennen, am besten ueber ein Webinterface.

Es muss halt eine verantwortliche Person geben, die die Verweise sortiert und überprüft. Vor allem, ob es Freie Software ist. Natürlich sollten anderen Leute Link einschicken können und mitmachen dürfen.

Mit diesen ganzen quakeforge..worldforge...den diversen quake-clones auf versch. libs basierend bin ich recht ueberfordert.
Gibt es in dem Bereich irgend etwas (ausser Acorn, der Screenshot sah nett aus) das was taugt, das man spielen kann, das nicht auf dem quake/doom source basiert und das mit modernen Aufloesungen arbeitet????

Nunja, dies ist eine junge,kleine Liste und die Leute sind sehr beschäftigt. Aber es wurde sicherlich gelesen und dann kommt manchmal mehr an der richtigen Stelle.
