Liebe Fellows,
auf der gestrigen Demo haben wir neben den FSFE-Flyern auch Ausdrucke von Stallmans SF-Geschichte "The Right to Read" verteilt. Diese machten jedoch im Gegensatz zu den Flyern nicht allzu viel her, sondern wirkten eher wie hastig mit a2ps (oder Enscript) ausgedruckte Textdateien.
Ich habe mal die deutsche Version "Das Recht zu lesen" in LaTeX gesetzt. Wäre schön, wenn wir _diese_ in Zukunft bei solchen Veranstaltungen verteilen könnten.

1) Ein einziges A4-Blatt (Vor- und Rückseite), nicht mehr!
Hierzu musste ich die "Anmerkung des Autors" entfernen, aber die gehört eh nicht mehr zur Story, und ist zudem im Gegensatz zur eigentlichen Story sehr verstaubt. Die sollte man mal aktualisieren, BTW.

Lieber ein kleiner Rand als eine kleine Schrift. Und keine zu langen Zeilen. Das sollen die Leute schließlich lesen können, ohne dass ihnen danach die Augen weh tun.
Daher: Schriftgröße 12pt und zweispaltig im Hochformat

Nunja, nicht auf die exakte Quelle, das wäre nämlich die "Communications of the ACM (Jahrgang 40, Nummer 2)".
Aber es ist ein Link auf die entsprechende GNU.org-Seite drauf. Dieser ist in der PDF-Datei sogar anklickbar, auch wenn dieses Feature beim Ausdrucken leider verloren geht. ;-)
Gibt es einen guten Ort für die *.tex- und *.pdf-Datei? Ich sende sie erstmal mit dieser E-Mail mit. Wäre schön, wenn das jemand an eine passende Stelle hochladen könnte.
Falls ihr keine passende Stelle dafür habt, sagt mir bitte ebenfalls bescheid, dann packe ich das auf meine eigene Homepage.

Mir ging es vorallem ums Einlagern und ums Informieren, sodass es auf der nächsten Veranstaltung auch wirklich genutzt wird.

Korrekturvorschlage bezüglich des Textsatzes oder des LaTeX- Codes sind ebenfalls gern gesehen. Allerdings ist das Ding so klein, da kann man nicht allzu viel falsch machen. ;-)
Außerdem hoffe ich, dass das Dokument die Leute motiviert, auch andere Texte entsprechend zu formatieren, gerne durch Kopieren und Anpassen meiner *.tex-Datei. Ich finde es generell schade, wenn Leute ihre Texte einfach durch a2ps durchjagen, wo doch der Zusatzaufwand mit LaTeX sehr gering ist und sich so gut wie immer lohnt.

Ich habe diesen und die 3 anderen Fehler, die du mir privat zugemailt hast, soeben korrigiert. Vielen Dank!
Weiterhin habe ich diese an den auf der Webseite genannten "Translation Coordinator" weitergeleitet, sodass auch die Webseite hoffentlich bald korrigiert sein wird.
Anbei die aktuelle, dritte Version des Dokumentes.

Du hast vollkommen Recht. Da habe ich der Silbentrennung zu Unrecht vertraut. Ich habe nochmal drübergelesen und die Silbentrennung aller problematischen Wörter via "\hyphenation" neu definiert.
Ich finde es erschreckend, dass LaTeX selbst bei alltäglichen Wörtern wie "Computer" und "jeder" so dermaßen versagt ... *schauder*

Das ist nicht LaTeX sondern wohl eher an der verwendung von ngerman.

Kurzer Nachtrag: Es lag nicht an ngerman, sondern daran, dass ich vergessen hatte, das deutsche Sprachpaket von TeXLive mit zu installieren. (Debian-Paket "texlive-lang-german")
Ohne dieses Paket gibt LaTeX sogar eine entsprechende Warnung aus:

Stallman hat sich besimmt nichts böses dabei gedacht, und hielt wahrscheinlich die "Anmerkungen des Autors" für genauso wichtig wie die eigentliche Geschichte. (... was offenbar ein Irrtum war, wie wir heute um Jahre 2010 gut sehen können)
Ich habe nun einfach den kompletten Artikel gesetzt, und dabei darauf geachtet, dass man bei Bedarf einfach nur die ersten 2 Seiten ausdrucken kann. Oder die ersten 3 (Geschichte + Anmerkungen des Autor). Oder alle (Bisheriges + Referenzen + Copyright).
Somit habe das Problem nicht mehr ich, sondern diejenigen, die es ausdrucken. ;-)
Eine E-Mail an Stallman wäre dennoch nicht verkehrt, aber das darf bitteschön jemand anderes tun.

Doppelter Papier- und Tonerverbrauch, bloß um ziemlich uninteressante Zusatzbemerkungen mitzudrucken. Ganz zu schweigen davon, dass ein einzelnes Blatt deutlich mehr Eindruck macht als zwei zusammen- getackerte.

Das liegt daran, dass es derzeit kein aktives deutsches Übersetzungsteam zu geben scheint. Wer sich dazu berufen fühlt, sollte am besten an web-translators@gnu.org eine entsprechende Email senden.

Richard war erstaunt, da er den betreffenden Text erst kürzlich angepasst hat. Die deutsche Version ist jedoch von 2001. Daher fragt er, ob es nicht Leute gäbe, die sich an deutschen Übersetzungen für gnu.org beteiligen möchten.
