Patentschutz auf mobiles Surfen im Internet Softwarepatent des Monats Juli kommt von Siemens
Ein Patent der Siemens AG soll das geschäftliche Surfen im Internet per Mobiltelefon und Laptop abdecken. Dafür erhielt das Unternehmen den Negativpreis "Softwarepatent des Monats Juli". golem.de Das europäische Patent EP0836787 wurde im Januar 2004 vom Europäischen Patentamt (EPA) genehmigt und beschreibt den Austausch von Datenpaketen per Mobilfunknetz zwischen einem mobilen Client und einem Server.
Im Rahmen der Kampagne Nosoftwarepatents-Award wählten fast 45 Prozent der Teilnehmer das Siemens-Patent zum "Softwarepatent des Monats Juli".
Die Patentschrift bezieht sich auf ein "Verfahren zur Übertragung von Datenpaketen gemäß einem Paketdatendienst in einem für Sprach- und Datenübertragung vorgesehenen zellularen Mobilfunknetz". Der Hauptanspruch patentiert die gemeinsame Übertragung von "Datenpaketen" und "Signalisierungsinformationen in einem Datenprotokoll" zwischen einem mobilen Client ("Teilnehmerstation") und einem Server ("gesonderter Dienstenetzknoten"). Damit sind nach Ansicht der Softwarepatent-Kritiker die Grundzüge der Netzwerkprotokolle beschrieben, die üblicherweise beim mobilen Zugriff auf Internet-Dienste verwendet werden.
Zu einer Stellungnahme gegenüber den Organisatoren des Nosoftwarepatents-Award war Siemens nicht bereit.
Im August 2006 stehen Patente zur Wahl, die sich mit dem Filtern von Internet-Inhalten, MP3-Codierverfahren, Voice over IP, konfigurierbaren Eingabemasken und Printing-on-Demand befassen. (ji)
