Webseiten deutscher EU-Parlamentarier verletzen Trivialpatente
Softwarepatente gehen jeden an. Und: Nicht nur Politiker, auch der private Homepagebastler kann betroffen sein.

Gleiches gilt für alle, die ihre Reden gern im Netz verbreiten und dafür MP3-Dateien nutzen.
Wenn das alles ist sollte das keine wirkliche Schwierigkeit darstellen, Alternativen sind PNG und OGG, beide Formate sind AFAIK frei von Patenten (oder?).

Du kannst nie sicher sein, dass kein Patent greift -- auch nach Patent-Recherche nicht. Selbst wenn keines passt, ist eine Drohung möglich, welche bei Gericht nicht sofort abgewiesen werden kann.
Bei dem Beispiel geht es auch darum zu erklären, wie die Mechanismen funktionieren und warum es uns alle betrifft. Sicherheit bietet nur eine klare Absage an Patente auf Software.

Warum wird eigentlich von Politikern über Softwarepatente Urteile gefällt, die aus einer Zeit stammen, in der der Rechenschieber noch das Highendgerät war? Meiner Meinung nach erfüllen die wenigsten die Bedingungen für das Verständnis der Tragweite ihrer Entscheidung.

Meine persönliche Theorie ist: Die Informationstechnik hat sich sehr schnell entwickelt, aber große Auswirkungen. Wir leben in einer Übergangzeit.
Meiner Meinung nach erfüllen die wenigsten die Bedingungen für das Verständnis der Tragweite ihrer Entscheidung.
Ich sehe Politiker viel als Vermittler, sie nehmen auf, was sich um sie herum tut und handeln ihrem Auftrag gemäß nach Ihren Gewissen.
Es gibt also in der deutschen und europäischen Öffentlichkeit auch zu wenig Verständniss. Deshalb ist die FSFE ja auch der Volksbildung verschrieben.
Immer nur auch die Politiker schimpfen wäre ungerecht, wir brauchen allgemein mehr Aufklärung für Informationstechnologie.
