Hallo zusammen,
neulich bin ich bei Heise Online über einen Artikel zu "Jeder kann programmieren"[0] gestoßen. Apple liefert also Lehrinhalte direkt an Hochschulen teil und trimmt Studenten damit auf die Nutzung der Apple-Plattform. Andere Unternehmen tun sicher ähnliches.
Habt ihr ähnliche Erlebnisse selbst schon gehabt und vielleicht auch mal Nachfragen zu den Gründen gestellt? Wie seht ihr das und kennt ihr vielleicht gute Alternativen, die auf Freie Software setzen?

Das Konzept nennt sich auf Englisch "get them while they are young" und wird nicht nur von Softwarefirmen sondern von so ziemlich jedem großen Unternehmen und Religionsgemeinschaft angewendet.
Was die Letzteren beiden betrifft stelle ich die Behauptung einfach mal so hin wen es genauer interessiert, der weiß ja jetzt wonach er suchen muss.
Was Softwarefirmen betrifft ist hier mal ein bisschen was über Microsoft: Ein blogpost auf englisch [1] Hier ein beispielhafter Artikel von Microsoft selbst. Es geht dort um eine der vielen Scheinbar wohltätigen Rabatte für Schüler und Studenten. Ich habe zugegebenermaßen nicht alles dort gelesen [2] Passend zu diesem Thema ist vermutlich auch das "Windows Insider Programm" das zumindest für mich als "Outsider" so wirkt als wäre es an Junges Publikum gerichtet. [3]
Im allgemeinen ist es Unwahrscheinlich, dass bei Rabatten von IT-Konzernen für Studierende die Jugendförderung oder ein gewisser Wohltätigkeitsgedanke im Vordergrund steht. Wahrscheinlicher ist es, dass es eine Langfristig angelegt PR Maßnahme ist. Man findet dazu auch sicher noch mehr, es stellt sich nur die Frage ob man Tatsächlich mehr wissen muss um abzuschätzen was los ist.

Darin wird deutlich, dass von vielen Seiten versucht wird Einfluss auf die Bildung und Meinung der Schülerinnen und Lehrer zu nehmen, über Lehrmaterialien zu Weiterbildungen etc.

da würde mich auch mal interessieren, wie das genau aussieht. Die Hardware an sich wird nicht so sehr das Problem zu sein. Design und Firmware scheinen auf den ersten Blick frei zu sein, auch wenn man die Hardware-nahen Bibliotheken noch prüfen müsste, da sind manchmal Einschränkungen versteckt (z.B. "darf nur mit unseren Prozessoren verwendet werden"). Grundsätzlich ist das Ding ein Fork vom BBC micro:bit.
Ich sehe zwei Probleme:
1. Programmiert wird es anscheinend ausschließlich über Webdienste (SASS), deren Lizenz mir z.T. unklar ist (vor allem der "Calliope Mini Editor"). Jedenfalls konnte ich auf Anhieb weder deren Quellcode/Lizenz noch eine alternative lokale Toolchain zur Programmierung finden. Einige Einzelteile findet man zwar auf Github, es entsteht jedoch der Eindruck, dass es einem hier schwer gemacht wird. Hinter den anderen Diensten (PXT bzw. OpenRoberta) stehen Microsoft bzw. Fraunhofer/Google. Ersterer hat eine unklare Lizenz (Klick auf Nutzungsbedingungen führt zu nicht vorhandener Seite, ein zumindest ähnlicher Code ist unter MIT Lizenz auf Github zu finden, identisch mit "MakeCode"?), der zweite Dienst reklamiert "Open Source" für sich, müsste aber mal recherchiert werden, da das Projekt recht groß und unübersichtlich ist.
2. Einige große Firmen treten als Sponsoren auf für die Verteilung an den Schulen. An sich sehe ich das nicht so sehr als Problem. Hinzu kommt jedoch, dass Google anscheinend eine starke Position in der Lehrerausbildung hierfür hat [0].
Insgesamt scheint mir das ganze System viele Parallelen zu Android zu haben: Der Kern ist zwar schon frei, der Überbau (UI) und das große Ganze wird jedoch von Unternehmen zumindest als Betreiber kontrolliert, wodurch diese einen Fuß in die Tür bekommen ohne Aufsicht mit unbeschränktem Einfluss (und verwenden z.B. schon Tracking-Cookies zu "Analysezwecken"). Ähnlich wie bei Android ist damit ein Vendor-Lockin und/oder die sukzessive Einführung proprietärer Bestandteile in Zukunft nicht ausgeschlossen, sobald sich diese Plattformen etabliert haben.

Gerade beim VZBV gelesen:
Apple ist nur eines unter vielen Unternehmen, die sich gezielt an Schüler und Lehrer wenden: Drei Viertel der größten deutschen Unternehmen geben eigene Unterrichtsmaterialien heraus, bieten Exkursionen, Lehrerfortbildungen oder Schulwettbewerbe an. Zwar ist Produktwerbung laut der landeseigenen Regeln zu Werbung und Sponsoring verboten. Zahlreiche Schlupflöcher ermöglichen es dennoch, dass Unternehmen ins Klassenzimmer drängen. Der vzbv fordert bundesweite Standards, um Schule als werbefreien Raum sicherzustellen.

die Hochschulen sind beileibe nicht der einzige Bereich, der Microsoft durchsetzt ist. Bis auf Nischen, in den Leistungsfähigkeit oder Sicherheit gefordert sind, und im kreativen Bereich, wo man sich ins Apple-Gefängnis begibt, findet man Microsoft: Also Schulen, Volkshochschulen, Büchereien, der Rest der öffentlichen Verwaltung (Finanzämter, Mnisterien, ...), Privatunternehmen, Kirchen, Parteien, Vereine, Privat-Leute, ...
In letzter Zeit ist mir deutlich geworden, wie auch kritische Geister (nicht nur) in den Microsoft-Zusammenhang verstrickt sind und nur sehr schwer daraus raus kommen können.
Ich habe hier mal provokativ gefragt, was denn so schlimm daran sei, ohne eine Reaktion zu bekommen. Selbstverständlich fällt mir dazu einiges ein. Das habe ich nicht aufgezählt, weil ich nicht lenken wollte.
Also, was denn so schlimm daran? Eine homogene EDV-Landschaft ist doch nicht schlecht?

schlimm daran ist, dass Homogenität (wie jedes andere Kriterium, nach denen man digitale Infrastrukturen bewerten kann) nicht auf Kosten von Freiheit erreicht werden darf - zumindest nicht dann, wenn eine Gesellschaft ihren öffentlichen Raum (zu dem auch öffentliche Infrastrukturen gehören) vorgibt, freiheitlich-demokratisch gestalten zu wollen.
Homogenität, Funktionalität, Usability etc. kann man ja gern zum Maß der Dinge erklären, aber dann erkläre ich hiermit auch "nordkoreanische Regierungsformen" zum erstrebenswerten Standard, denn an Homogenität und Funktionalität ist Nord-Korea in kaum einem Bereich zu übertreffen.
Freie Software bedeutet für mich, digitale Infrastrukturen _zivilgesellschaft_ kontrollier- und gestaltbar zu machen. Apple, MS, Adobe, SAP und alle anderen proprietären Software-Riesen haben demzufolge hier nichts verloren, solange sie nicht ebenfalls als Freie Software entwickeln.

Es ist die gleiche philosophische oder auch satirische Frage: Wollen wir Individuen zulassen oder geht es um Gleichschaltung aller Beteiligten?
Warum willst du (imaginär) eine einheitliche EDV? Weil das einfacher zu warten, einfacher zu kontrollieren wäre. Weil es beim Datenaustausch sogar Vorteile brächte. Es gibt bei den messbaren Größen viele Vorteile. Nur die Individualität, die Entfaltbarkeit des Einzelnen, die lässt sich nicht so leicht messen. Und genau die fehlt in dem Szenario.
Und daher kommt mein Gedankengang: Die messbaren Größen sind doch bei gedopten Sportlern auch alle besser. Nur ist es da auch die Individualität, die Menschlichkeit, die verloren geht. Und die den Reiz ausmacht.
