herausgefunden habe. Auch die Symptome treffen zu: Plötzliches Springen der Akkuladung von ca. 70%-95% auf 0%.
Nur: Den Rückruf kann man nur mit dem entsprechenden Windows-Tool initiieren. Das Tool läuft nicht unter Wine oder einer VM. Ein Anruf bei der Lenovo- Hotline brachte mir die Information: Es geht tatsächlich nur über das Tool.
Jetzt stellt sich mir die Frage: Kann ich von der Rückruf-Option nur Gebrauch machen, wenn ich mir Windows installiere? Können die das von mir verlagen? Hat jemand eine Idee?

komischerweise ist auch mein Akku gestern gestorben. Der nette Mensch von Battery Program battery@lenovo.com, John Nicholson meinte, er arbeite an einer Linux Version. Allerdings konnte er mir per mail und Seriennummer meines Akkus auch so sagen, dass mein Akku nicht unter das Programm fällt.
Aber schreib unabhängig von mir noch einmal eine Mail und frag nach Linux! :-)

Ich habe auch einen Akku der Serie, glücklicherweise ohne die Symptome. Hätte ich die Symptome, würde ich mich sofort an den Konsumentenschutz wenden, da mein Rechner ohne Windows ausgeliefert wurde und Lenovo mich nicht zwingen kann, das System zu verwenden. Ist Dein Notebook mit Windows ausgeliefert worden? Unabhängig davon würde ich mich an Deiner Stelle an den Konsumentenschutz wenden, wobei ich als Österreicher nicht weiß, wer da in Deutschland zuständig ist. Auf jeden Fall habe ich nun einen Grund mehr, bei Lenovo in AT anzurufen, um zu sehen wie sie auf meine Fragen reagieren.

Wir haben hier in Deutschland eine äquivalente Institution. Heißt nur Verbraucherschutz. Ich würde mich aber auf alle Fälle dorthin wenden, da man dich ja nun wirklich nicht zu der Benutzung eines bestimmten Betriebssystems zwingen kann.

Besonders traurig bei Lenovo ist jedoch, dass sie sich damit ins eigene Fleisch schneiden (viele Linux-Kunden), und das nicht einmal merken.

Du kannst dich an der Hotline "blöd" stellen und behaupten, dass du kein Internet hättest. Wegen hohen Anschlusskosten, und den vielen "bösen" Sachen, die man so hört.
Vielleicht zeigen sie dann eher Verständnis.
Ansonsten ist das vielleicht ein netter Aufhänger, um sich mit der Problematik "Ignoranz gegenüber freier Software" an Akte oder Plus-Minus oder irgendsoeine Sendung zu wenden.

find ich nicht so gut (auch wenns vermutlich sogar funktioniert), Lenovo fordert hier offensichtlich etwas ohne rechtliche Grundlage. Mit Tricks zu seinem Recht kommen ist vielleicht einfacher, aber man 'unterwirft' sich damit dem Hersteller.

das find ich wiederum gut ;) ist schon irgendwie krass das ein Hersteller verlangt eine Software für eine Rückrufaktion zu installieren die mehr kostet als der Akku.

Von solchen erfundenen Zahlen halte ich nicht viel. Aber wenn du Markt-Analysen oder repräsentative Umfragen zu dem Thema kennst, wäre das was anderes. Das wären in der Tat interessante Informationen, mit denen man auch Lenovo mal konfrontieren könnte.

Die interessantesten Beiträge landen früher oder später eh auf Youtube. Einige packen ihre Sendungen auch auf ihre Webseite. Zwar meist im proprietären Format und nicht auf Dauer, aber immerhin lange genug, dass Netzpolitik.org & Co. erfolgreich darauf verlinken können.

Das ist zum Glück nicht so schlimm, wie es hätte werden können. Man muss hier grundsätzlich zwei Dinge unterscheiden:
1) Die Einkommensteuer-Erklärung (+ Feststellungs-Erklärung, etc.). Die ist 1x pro Jahr fällig und derzeit noch mit Papier möglich.
2) Die Umsatzsteuer-Voranmeldung. Die ist 1x pro Quartal oder 1x pro Monat. Die geht nur noch elektronisch.
Mit Punkt 2) haben wir in unserer Firma keine Probleme, da das freie Taxbird eben diese UstVA hervorragend handhabt.
Bei Punkt 1) bieten zumindest die Finanzämter in Brandenburg auf ihrer Webseite elektronisch ausfüllbare Formulare. Früher waren es *würg* PDF-Formulare, inzwischen läuft dort eine Web-Applikation, die sich gut bedienen lässt und auf Firefox ohne Probleme läuft:

Leider ist diese Web-Applikation wirklich nur ein Formular-Editor. Man kann die eigegebenen Daten nicht ans Finanzamt senden, sondern nur ein fertiges PDF herunterladen, das man sich abspeichern und ausdrucken kann. Der Ausdruck geht dann an Finanzamt.
Außerdem kann man sich die Daten als XML-Datei herunterladen, die man später wieder hochladen und weiter editieren kann. Damit ist die Web-Applikation zumindest _etwas_ weiter als die unsäglichen PDF-Formulare, die man im Nachhinein nicht mehr editieren kann.
Wenn Punkt 1) irgendwann einmal nur noch elektronisch geht, so könnte man hoffen, dass sich Freiwillige finden, die zumindest die wichtigsten Formulare in Taxbird integrieren.
Eine weitere Hoffnung wäre, dass die Web-Formulare weiter ausgebaut werden. Wenn die schon PDF generieren können, sollte es auch nicht zu schwer sein, dass sie die Daten via Cocoa-Protokoll ans Finanzamt senden.

Hm. In diesem Fall ist es wohl so, dass Lenovo mit dem Tool nicht nur überprüft, ob der Akku die richtige Seriennummer hat, sondern auch, ob er überhaupt von dem Fehler betroffen ist. Soweit ich Nicholson richtig verstanden habe, setzt das Tool sogar den "fuel gauge" des Akkus zurück und checkt dann noch einmal, ob der Fehler noch immer besteht.
Hat das Tool festgestellt, dass man für den Empfang eines neuen Akkus "berechtigt" ist, spuckt es einen sehr langen Link aus, den man in seinen Browser eingeben kann. Auf dieser Seite muss man nur noch seine Adresse eingeben und man bekommt einen neuen Akku geschickt.
Wäre das Tool frei oder läge die API zur Generierung dieser "kryptografischen URLs" offen, könnte sich jeder einen neuen Akku zuschicken lassen.
Also ist wohl eher der Ansatz mit dem Tool selbst zu kritisieren.
