Der Ursprüngliche Vorschlag sah vor, Freie Software im gesamten Bildungssystem zu verwenden. Wie ist ihre Position dazu? Halten Sie eine ähnliche Initiative in Deutschland für sinnvoll?

Also den letzten Satz würde ich weg lassen, denn darauf kann man sehr ausweichend einfach mit "ja, sinnvoll" antworten, aber dann trotzdem nichts tun. Ich finde, die Politiker/innen sollten sich doch mal richtig äußern, und konkret sagen, ob sie das tun werden oder nicht. Nur zu fragen, ob etwas sinnvoll sei, ist zu zahm.
Wir sollten in den Fragen keine Möglichkeiten bieten, ausweichend oder verallgemeinert zu antworten, denn es geht hier nicht um Grundsatzerklärungen, die haben wir ja alle schon gehört, sondern um konkrete Angaben, ob dort was geplant ist oder nicht, und wenn nicht, wieso, wenn ja, was und wie genau?
Und das gilt jetzt nicht nur für Fragen an Gabriel, sondern an alle.

Vielmehr war man im Bundesbildungsministerium nicht in der Lage, der überraschend chaotischen Vielfalt bei der Hochschul-IT zu begegnen. Bei 80 Prozent der Hochschulen, deren IT-Systeme nicht mit dem zentralen System verknüpft werden können, kommt veraltete Software zum Einsatz, die über kurz oder lang erneuert werden muss. Dies ist Folge der langjährigen Unterfinanzierung der Hochschulen.
Im Rahmen der notwendigen Kraftanstrengungen zur Stärkung der Grundfinanzierung der Hochschulen braucht es auch eine gemeinsame Kraftanstrengung zur Modernisierung der Informationstechnologien an den Hochschulen, damit unter anderem moderne Zulassungsverfahren ermöglicht werden. Hier kann aus meiner Sicht der Einsatz Freier Software eine mögliche Chance sein, zu guten und gleichzeitig kostengünstigen Lösungen zu kommen.

Kein Systemhaus, das groß genug ist, alle ITs aufzunehmen, will es mit was anderem aufnehmen als den vorgenannten. GNU/Linux ist zu schwierig, zu kompliziert.
So pfeift es aus den Löchern, die noch pfeifen, und seien es die letzen; mindestens sind es die letzten, die ich gehört zu haben glaube. ;)

Das kann ich aus meiner Sicht - leider - so bestätigen, zumindest drängt sich der Gedanke auf wenn man sieht was in den Behörden ankommt. Viele Lippenbekenntnisse zu freier Software aber einen Raum weiter werden gleichzeitig langjährige Enterprise Agreements abgeschlossen. Zentralisierung ist nach wie vor ein großes Thema, unter Schlagworten wie Konsolidierung, Synergieeffekte und Kostensenkung wird diese als Instrument der effektiven Planung und Steuerung weiter voran getrieben. Unten kommt allerdings meist nur "command and control" an.
Aber wie das so bei der Politik ist, es wird immer nur die fetteste Sau durchs Dorf getrieben und es ist schon am Horizont erkennbar, dass diese zukünftig "Ausfallsicherheit und Krisenfestigkeit" heissen wird. Dann gibts für Deuschland wieder ne Goldmedaile im Zurückrudern ;)

Dankeschön für die Frage!! Wie gesagt, das wichtig ist, dass die Mitarbeiter die Themen schon mal gehört haben. Umso mehr Leute fragen umso besser!
