Der Artikel scheint mir, abgsehen von kleinen Schwächen, akzeptabel.
Die Autoren erklären beispielsweise die Nachteile des Begriffes "Open Source", ziehen aber nicht die Konzequenz daraus, den klareren Begriff "Freie Software" zu verwenden. Ähnlich wird das Adjektiv "kommerziell" an einigen Stellen noch fälschlicherweise mit "proprietär" gleich gesetzt.
Auf Grund des anhaltenden schlechten Wissensstands der meisten Publikationen über das Thema, muss der c't und den Autoren jedoch ein Lob angesichts der überdurchschnittlichen Qualität des Berichts ausgesprochen werden.

Im deutschen Sprachraum hat wohl der Heise-Verlag diesen Begriff geprägt, und als Folge gilt nun Java (inklusive Suns Implementation) hierzulande als "Open Source". :-(
