Hallo zusammen,
wie Ihr ja bestimmt schon wisst, findet am 23. März der alljährliche Document Freedom Day statt. Diese Kampagne ist weltweit ausgerichtet und soll konkret Offene Standards [1] herausheben. Letztes Jahr wurden bei 60 Events in 30 Ländern diverse kreative Aktionen unternommen, um Leute auf Offene Standards anzusprechen, diese zu fordern oder Individuen und Organisationen zu danken, dass sie Offene Standards unterstützen und fördern.
Ein wichtiger Teil davon sind die DFD Awards. Dabei können (Fellowship-)Gruppen Unternehmen und Institutionen für ihr einzigartiges Engagement danken. Es hat sich bisher eingebürgert, dass es einen deutschlandweiten Preis gibt, der möglichst auch auf großes Medienecho stößt und vielleicht auch Bereiche belangt, die nicht unbedingt streng technischer Natur sind. In den letzten Jahren hatten wir etwa die taz (für ePub und ohne DRM), die 1&1 AG (für Unterstützung von XMPP) und Tagesschau.de (für Ogg Theora bei den Streams) als Gewinner.
Auch für dieses Jahr suchen wir Kandidaten für diesen Preis. Bisher wurden folgende vorgeschlagen: - - epubli [2]: Ein Verlag, welcher es Autoren ermöglicht, in Offenen Standards zu publizieren und mit "sozialem" DRM. - - culturbooks [3]: Ein eBook-Laden, der ebenfalls ePub und andere Offene Formate anbietet und alles DRM-frei lässt
Als Kritikpunkte wurden bisher daran geäußert, dass erstens alles sehr auf Bücher konzentriert ist und dass zweitens eBooks keine wirklich große Nutzergemeinde ansprechen, was ja schon wünschenswert wäre.
Daher meine Frage: Wie sieht Ihr die bisherigen Kandidaten und was ist Eure Meinung zu den Contrapunkten? Fallen Euch andere Kandidaten ein, die Euch einen Gefallen tun, indem sie eine Vorreiterstellung einnehmen und nur Offene Standards verwenden, egal ob im technischen, journalistischen, medizischen oder sonstnochwas Bereich?
Ich bin mir sicher, wir können unsere Kandidatenliste bis zum kommenden Montag noch erweitern, damit die Auswahl noch spannender wird. Danke für Eure Mithilfe!
