Einige von euch haben vielleicht kürzlich die (englischsprachige) Rede von Richard Stallman (RMS) in Bern, Zürich oder sonst wo gehört. Hier ist die Aufzeichnung der fast 2-stündigen Berner Rede inklusive einiger schön gezeichneten Folien:

RMS erzählt seit Jahren immer dasselbe, aber der Fokus wandelt sich langsam von den reinen Software- und Lizenz-Geschichten zu den möglichen Dystopien wenn mächtige Konzerne immer noch mächtiger werden und die Menschen immer mehr kontrollieren.
Es scheint mir nun, dass seine Botschaft selbst in unseren Kreisen nicht ernst genommen wird, trotz Snowden, usw. Obiges Video und viele ähnliche beweisen dies. RMS bittet jeweils in den den ersten Minuten, seine Rede nur in einem freien Format aufzuzeichnen und sie nur auf einem freien Webserver zu veröffentlichen. Aber das Video kommt auf Youtube! Ich habe meinen Freund Matthias Stürmer, den Chef von digitale-nachhaltigkeit.unibe.ch und unermüdlichen Kämpfer für ganz viele FOSS-Anliegen in der Schweiz, deswegen kritisiert, und er konterte zurecht, dass auch andere FOSS-Gruppierungen Youtube verwenden. Youtube gehört Google und ähnliche Plattformen gehören nicht viel weniger mächtigen Firmen. Es ist unmöglich diese Inhalte anzusehen ohne "beobachtet" zu werden, ausser man greift zu starken und umständlichen Anonymisierwerkzeugen.
Ich scheine in der Schweiz der einzige zu sein, den dies stört. Ein ähnliches Posting wie dieses bei Wilhelm Tux ergab keine einzige Reaktion. Auch Stallman selbst "bittet" nur, er setzt sich aber nicht durch.
Zuerst dachte ich, es sei nur Bequemlichkeit. Youtube und ähnliche Platformen bieten einen einzigartigen Service und man bezahlt "nur" mit einigen Daten. Aber dann habe ich versucht Videos zu finden, die ich schon seit Jahren veröffentlicht hatte, auf privaten Servern. Kein einziges erscheint in Video-Suchmaschinen, z.B. von Swisscows: https://swisscows.ch/video . Und: sucht man hier z.B. nach Richard Stallman, erscheinen ausschliesslich Videos, von denen die Suchmaschine warnt, dass die Ansicht unmöglich ist, ohne "getrackt" zu werden. Verschwörung oder einfache technische Erklärung?
Normalerweise denke ich wie wohl die meisten: Was geht mich das an, ich habe doch nichts zu verbergen und wohne in einem freien Land? Es reicht doch, sich von Facebook, usw fern zu halten? Aber dann denke ich: Die Entwicklungen überschlagen sich: künstliche Intelligenz, billige, süchtig-machene und verstörende Virtuelle-Realität, unkritische Konsumenten, unmögliche Regierungen, immer grössere Geldmengen oft in gefährlichen Händen. Wo führt das alles hin? Ist es nicht ein Gebot der Vernunft, auch im Kleinen vorsichtig zu sein?
RMS giftelt immer stärker gegen "Open Source"- aber auch "Linux"(ohne GNU)-Leute als Menschen, die im besten Fall nur zur Hälfte einsichtig sind, und im schlimmsten Fall Werkzeuge der Mächtigen sind, weil sie sich nur für's Geschäft oder die Technik interessieren.
Hat er Recht oder ist er paranoid? Was meint ihr? Bringt es irgend etwas, z.B. Stallman's letzte Rede in Webm oder Ogg Theora auf dem FSFE Server unterzubringen, wie er das gewünscht hatte, oder wäre dies nur eine kaum erkennbare symbolisch und ohnmächtige Geste? Eigentlich gehören solche Videos hierhin: https://media.libreplanet.org/ Es hat dort schon eine wesentlich kürzere Rede von RMS.
Oder hat Google/Youtube einfach "gewonnen" und wir können zumindest diesbezüglich nichts tun?

Aus meiner Sicht ist nicht die Botschaft zu extrem, sondern zumindestens teilweise die Art, wie sie vermittelt werden soll.
Auch ich wundere mich, wenn ich beobachte, daß weiterhin google oder gmail oder g+ von Leuten in der der Freien-Software-Gemeinschaft genutzt werden, auch die Nutzung von Tor ist ja eher randständig. Zu fast Allem gibt es ja inzwischen Freie Alternativen, die gut oder mindestens halbwegs akzeptabel laufen; auch zu facebook, twitter und mit Einschränkungen youtube.
RS weist zu recht auch darauf hin, daß durch die smartphones und tablets in der Regel den Nutzerinnen wieder schon erreichte Selbstbestimmung über die Computer weggeneommen wird, er verweist auch zu Recht darau, daß den Nutzern immer weiter die Selbstbestimmung über die Hardware genommen wird; Freie Hardware ist dringen notwendig.
Es wird wohl von Vielen in der Freien-Software-Community nicht wahrgenommen oder interessiert nicht, daß sich die Situation für Freie Software in den letzten Jahren dramatisch verschlechtert hat. Vor diesem Hintergrund ist nicht die Botschaft extrem, die Verhältnisse sind es.

Bei den freien Alternativen für Facebook, Twitter und Google+ bin ich bei dir, da gibt es freie Alternativen, und jeder kann sie nutzen.
Bei Youtube wird es schwierig, die Videos müssen ja irgendwo abgelegt werden, und der Speicherplatz kostet Geld. Hier ist es nicht wie z.B. dem eigenen Mail- oder XMPP Server mit einem Stück Software und ein bisschen CPU Ressourcen auf einem virtuellen Server getan.

Bei gnufunzt[1] haben wir von Anfang an selbst gehostet - und zwar von einem Billig-VServer mit Fair-Use Traffic. Selbst ohne Fair-Use würden uns die marktüblichen 2TB/Monat für mehrere tausend Abonnenten reichen. Bei CDN-Basierten Webhostern ist der Traffic sogar noch billiger. Die HD-Variante bieten wir im Augenblick über BitTorrent an, das allerdings auch eher um die Popularität dezentraler Datenwege zu fördern.
Zum Einbinden in eine Webseite reicht das völlig banale HTML-<video>-Tag, und selbst vor dessen Standardisierung wurde das <embed>-Tag fast überall unterstützt. Wer eine Digitalkamera sachgerecht bedienen kann, sollte gerade noch in der Lage sein, sowas von Hand einzutippen. Falls nicht, steckt sowas heute in jedem noch so doofen CMS bzw. Bloggenerator - Spezialanwendung nicht erforderlich.
Es ist eigentlich wirklich ganz schön einfach.

In dem Fall gebe ich dir Recht, wenn eine technisch versierte Person ein Video veröffentlichen möchte kann sie das natürlich tun. Wobei auch dann noch eine zentrale Suchmaschine für solche Videos nett wäre.
Wenn aber beispielsweise mein Nachbar ein Unboxing von seinem neuen Rasenmäher filmen und irgendwo hochladen will kommt er um Youtube eben leider nicht drum rum.

Matthias Stürmer ist ein freundlicher, pragmatischer und humorvoller "Open-Source"-Typ" und erduldet/fördert den etwas rumpelsurrigen und aggressiven Richard Stallman, aber glaubt seiner Botschaft nur zur Hälfte.
Richard Stallman gibt viele Reden von denen er genau weiss, dass seine Wünsche nicht respektiert werden und die allermeisten davon erscheinen gerade nicht auf Libreplanet.org oder so, sondern auf Youtube.
Ist das nun eine Symbiose zweier Männer/Richtungen? Oder haben die Firmen gewonnen, weil Videos auf unabhängigen Servern von den Suchmaschinen nicht erfasst werden, und weil es gemäss Marcus Möller kaum brauchbare freie Alternativen gibt? (Den Einwand von Nobert, dass Videos zu hosten zu teuer ist, trifft auf die Uni Bern sicher nicht zu.)

Es gibt schon Software, wie das bereits erwähnte Owncloud. Das eignet sich gut dafür einzelne Videos bereit zu stellen und dann zu verlinken.

Eine Lösung wäre ein Federated Network für Videos und Bildinhalte. Mediagoblin hatte sowas mal vor, hat dabei aber auf das tote pump.io API gesetzt.
Bei einer wirklich föderalistischen Lösung ist es in sofern schwierig, da man eigentlich will, dass alle Videos im gesamten Netz verteilt verfügbar sind (also auf jeder Instanz). Das setzt dann wieder viel Plattenplatz bei allen Beteiligten voraus.
Wenn man nur die Links verteilt und die Videos auf den jeweiligen Instanzen bleiben, hat man immerhin den Vorteil einer durchsuchbaren Lösung, dann halt ohne Redundanz.
Mögliche Kandidaten für eine solche Lösung wären GNU social oder Hubzilla (es gibt bestimmt noch mehr, die ich nicht kenne).

Vermutlich wäre es bei sowas sinnvoll, den Mechanismus der Kommunikation Server-zu-Server nicht direkt zu spezifizieren, also nicht auf ein Protokoll/eine API festzulegen. Dann bedeutet der Wegfall einer Plattform nicht ein Ende der Kommunikation. Ist aber natürlich aufwändiger zu implementieren.
Bei einer wirklich föderalistischen Lösung ist es in sofern schwierig, da man eigentlich will, dass alle Videos im gesamten Netz verteilt verfügbar sind (also auf jeder Instanz). Das setzt dann wieder viel Plattenplatz bei allen Beteiligten voraus.
Muss denn jeder Knoten jedes Video vorhalten? Da fallen mir schon zwei andere Varianten ein: - - Auf dem kleinen, privaten Server können privilegierte User zu spiegelnde Videos festlegen - - Größere öffentliche Instanzen können nen Schwellenwert setzen, ab wievielen "Likes" ein Video gespiegelt wird und bei zuendegehendem Speicherplatz eventuell unbeliebtere "rausaltern" lassen
Zusätzlich kann die Quelle in den Metadaten festgehalten werden, so daß der dritte Knoten schon den ersten und zweiten kennt und anderen als weitere (mögliche) Quellen angeben kann, wenn er selber Quelle ist. Wenn man beim Transportmechanismus zwischen Servern auch Plugins/Module erlaubt, ließen sich zusätzliche Protokolle wie Rsync oder BitTorrent nutzen - und Usern könnte man zum Download gleich einen Metalink anbieten.
Wenn man nur die Links verteilt und die Videos auf den jeweiligen Instanzen bleiben, hat man immerhin den Vorteil einer durchsuchbaren Lösung, dann halt ohne Redundanz.
Ich weiß nicht, wie man bei sowas eine "globale" Durchsuchbar- keit ermöglichen würde, aber eine optionale Redundanz der Videos würde vermutlich ausreichen. Womöglich ließe sich etwas wie die rekursiven Resolver beim DNS machen. Natürlich gibt es hier keine Rootserver, aber Knoten könnten Nachbarn fragen, mit denen sie bereits Daten ausgetauscht haben. Und Videos sollten UUIDs oder ähnlich große Prüfsummen als Identifikationsmerkmal benutzen, die für eine Indizierung genutzt werden können.
Mögliche Kandidaten für eine solche Lösung wären GNU social oder Hubzilla (es gibt bestimmt noch mehr, die ich nicht kenne).
Da kenne ich offensichtlich noch weniger ;)

Es gibt schon Software, wie das bereits erwähnte Owncloud. Das eignet sich gut dafür einzelne Videos bereit zu stellen und dann zu verlinken.
Es ist keine Suchplattform, so wie Youtube, und das ist auch der Grund warum letzteres so beliebt ist.
Eine Lösung wäre ein Federated Network für Videos und Bildinhalte. Mediagoblin hatte sowas mal vor, hat dabei aber auf das tote pump.io API gesetzt.

Sowas schläft eben ein wenn der Entwickler den Bachelor fertig hat. An einem einheitlichen Protokoll ist nichts verkehrt. Nur ein kleiner Tip für das Bullshitradar: Wenn die Protokollspec mit Downloadlink und Installationsanleitung beginnt, dann ist es keine.
Dann bedeutet der Wegfall einer Plattform nicht ein Ende der Kommunikation.

OAuth ist eine weitestgehend sinnvolle Erweiterung von OpenID, beides sind offene Standards. Allein hat man bei OAuth unglücklicherweise die Funktion zur Ermittlung des Service-Endpunkts vergessen. Der Benutzer kann damit damit bei OAuth keinen ID-Anbieter mehr frei eingeben. Stattdessen stellt der Diensteeanbieter eine Auswahl zwischen den ID-Anbietern, die er schon kennt. Jedesmal wenn euch eine Webseite anbietet euch entweder via Google+ oder Facebook oder Twitter ainzuloggen, habt ihr es mit OAuth zu tun. Ratet mal wer beim Protokollentwurf im Komitee saß.
Wie auch OpenID ist das Protokoll zwischen Plattformen übertragbar, anders als dort sind die verwendbaren Plattfomen aber mehr oder minder zentral festgelegt. Fällt eine weg [*], endet die Kommunikation für ein Groß der Teilnehmer auf einmal. Mein Punkt bei der Sache: weder Freie Software noch ein offener Standard sind alleinige Garanten für eine Netzwerkstruktur, die zur Teilnahme einlädt.
* Der Wegfall einer Plattform besteht effektiv auch dann, wenn einem das Benutzerkonto gesperrt wird, oder die AGBs untragbar werden (und idR. sind sie das ja schon).
Ist aber natürlich aufwändiger zu implementieren.
Wenn ein Programmierer ein Netzwerksystem entwirft, dann erwarte ich dass der Entwurf mit der Beschreibung des Transferformats beginnt. Drauf los zu programmieren und hinterher die Funktionsschnittstellen zu erklären, die dabei entstanden sind ist ganz *hust... unerfahren.

Ich habe mich mal angemeldet und nach Medien gesucht. Die Suche nach Stallman liefert eine ganze Reihe von Videos. Dann habe ich auch selbst erste Medien hoch geladen. Es finden sich ein feed und die Möglichkeit für seine Account blogs anzulegen.
Was ich noch nicht herausgefunden habe, ist ob die Föderation mit anderen Instanzen statt findet. Ich denke, eher nicht. Das ist ja das eigentliche Problem, das weder mit owncloud noch z.B. beim CCC gelöst wird. Wenn ich Sachen vom CCC suche, sind die natürlich zu finden, weil man beim CCC suchen wird. Wie finde ich aber andere Medien? Es muß eine Lösung gefunden werden, die möglichst viele Instanzen vernetzt, nur dann werde ich ein Angebot haben, das geeignet ist, Nutzer anzuziehen. Diese Aufgabe ist aber wohl sehr schwer zu lösen.

Wobei ich ihn nicht wirklich sehenswert finde. Meine Meinung zu RMS habe ich schon an verschiedensten Stellen dargelegt.
Ich persönlich distanziere mich klar von ihm uns seinem teilweise recht aggressivem Auftreten. Unsere Werte kann man auf deutlich freundlichere und nettere Art und Weise propagieren. Aber dann denke ich: Die Entwicklungen überschlagen sich: künstliche Intelligenz, billige, süchtig-machene und verstörende Virtuelle-Realität, unkritische Konsumenten, unmögliche Regierungen, immer grössere Geldmengen oft in gefährlichen Händen. Wo führt das alles hin? Ist es nicht ein Gebot der Vernunft, auch im Kleinen vorsichtig zu sein?
RMS giftelt immer stärker gegen "Open Source"- aber auch "Linux"(ohne GNU)-Leute als Menschen, die im besten Fall nur zur Hälfte einsichtig sind, und im schlimmsten Fall Werkzeuge der Mächtigen sind, weil sie sich nur für's Geschäft oder die Technik interessieren.
Hat er Recht oder ist er paranoid? Was meint ihr? Bringt es irgend etwas, z.B. Stallman's letzte Rede in Webm oder Ogg Theora auf dem FSFE Server unterzubringen, wie er das gewünscht hatte, oder wäre dies nur eine kaum erkennbare symbolisch und ohnmächtige Geste? Wobei ich ihn nicht wirklich sehenswert finde. Meine Meinung zu RMS habe ich schon an verschiedensten Stellen dargelegt.
Ich persönlich distanziere mich klar von ihm uns seinem teilweise recht aggressivem Auftreten. Unsere Werte kann man auf deutlich freundlichere und nettere Art und Weise propagieren.
Leider kommt es ja häufig vor, daß Leute durch Vertreter der Freien-Software- Gemeinschaft eher von der Nutzung Freier Software abgeschreckt werden. Dabei ist die Verwendung von Denglish oftmals das kleinste Übel. Inerhalb der Gemeinnschaft ist der Ton ja auch häufig zu rau, auch wenn Linnus Torvalds das für nötig hält und meint, daß rechtfertigen zu können. So wird man ja leicht zu einem Idioten erklärt, wenn man z.B. KDE oder auch Gnome nutzt. Es scheint für einige sehr schwer zu akzeptieren zu sein, daß jemand etwas für brauchbar hält und mit Zufriedenheit nutzt, was warum auch immer nicht den eigenen Ansprüchen genügt.

Jetzt lieferst Du selbst ein Beispiel für raues Verhalten. Du hättest auch schreiben können, daß aus Deiner Sicht MediaGoblin (noch) nicht nutzbar ist, Mist ist etwas anderes.

Nope, das ist Mist, wenn schlechte Software dafür sorgt, dass man selbst zur Spamschleuder wird.
Wenn du das schon als rau empfindest, hättest du dir den RMS Talk nicht anhören dürfen. Das war ein ganz anderes Kaliber.
Was die Reaktion der Entwickler angeht, so finde ich es nicht so schlimm, wenn man sagt, dass man sich der Problematik bewusst ist, und daran arbeitet. Wenn kein Bewusstsein für so etwas da ist, fehlt dem Projekt die Substanz, und ich baue ungern auf Sand, du kannst es natürlich für dich selbst herausfinden.

Ich habe da leider auch keine abschießende Antwort für mich gefunden, weil das ein sehr scharfes zweischneidiges Schwert ist. Zum einen ist es natürlich doof, proprietäre, zentralisierte, datenschutzarme Dienste zu verwenden, um darüber Botschaften für Freie Software zu versenden. Zum anderen dürfen wir meiner Meinung nach keine Inselgruppe sein, die für "normale" Nutzer nicht sichtbar ist, weil sie auf ihren eigenen, kleinen, unbekannten Diensten aktiv ist.
Wenn wir Menschen von Freier Software überzeugen wollen, müssen wir (auch!) da hin, wo sie noch nichts von uns wissen, aber natürlich im besten Fall auch gerne etwas von uns wissen würden. Die Münchner FSFE-Gruppe geht beispielsweise oft auf ein großes Straßenfest, das nur peripher etwas mit IT zu tun hat. Einige Österreicher gehen oft auf die Veganmania, um dort neue Leute zu erreichen.
Analog dazu finde ich es nicht verwerflich, dass Leute auch Talks von RMS & Co. auf Youtube hochladen. Das sind öffentliche Veranstaltungen und wenn ein Nutzer seinen Account dazu verwendet, ein Video davon hochzuladen, ist das im Prinzip nicht böse. Ganz im Gegenteil, wir bringen damit diese Themen in die breitere Öffentlichkeit.

Martialisch gesagt: Die Schlacht ja, den Krieg noch lange nicht. Youtube hat um ein Vielfaches mehr Nutzer als jegliche andere Lösung, ähnlich mit Twitter oder Facebook. Ich denke, wir müssen dort auch zweigleisig fahren: Freie Alternativen nutzen (vor allem natürlich für private Sachen), aber möglichst auf die populären Dienste spiegeln, damit mehr Menschen damit erreicht werden. Die FSFE spiegelt in diesem Sinne seit einiger Zeit alle ihre Twitter-Postings auf GnuSocial (fsfe@quitter.no). So geht keine Information verloren und wir sprechen beide "Lager" an. Eine bessere Lösung fällt mir leider auch nicht ein.

Es folgte eine immer technischer werdende Diskussion, der ich nicht folgen konnte.
4) Keine einleuchtende Erklärung, weshalb Video-Suchmaschinen Videos auf freien Servern nicht finden (wollen). Die Antwort von Florian überzeugt mich nicht, da die meisten Videos durch die Dateiendungen ihrer Container als solche identifizierbar sind:
Keine Verschwörung. Es ist einfacher einige große Plattformen zu durchsuchen als viele kleine. Die vielen kleinen müsste man generell erst mal kennen und dann ist nicht gesagt, dass man da Metadaten in einem einheitlichen Format bekommt.
Es bleibt nur die unbefriedigende Möglichkeit, eine Web(Text-)Suchmaschine zu verwenden, um einige der vorhandenen Videos zu finden.

Der gleiche Inhalt muss immer auch frei zugänglich sein, sei es auf einer normalen Webseite, auf einem freien und dezentralen sozialen Netzwerk, auf einer Plattform wie MediaGoblin, etc.

Letztlich musst du ja auch vorleben, dass ein Verzicht auf diese Dienste machbar und praktikabel ist. Weil "wenn es nichtmal die schaffen..."

Nach den Erfahrungen, die ich gerade in Mülheim an der Ruhr mit Wolf-Dieter Zimmermann mache, scheint es mir auch wichtig und wirksam, daß man versucht, mit Leuten Kontakt aufzunehmen, die gut vernetzt und gesellschaftlich engagiert sind. Auch der Kontakt zu Gruppen, zu deren Zielen die Nutzung freier Software paßt, oder z.B. zu Volkshochschulen oder Medienzentren ist wichtig. Das kann meinem Eindruck nach wirksamer sein, als ungezielte gestreute Informationen in Netzwerken, deren Geschäftsmodell das Abgreifen von Daten ist. Informationen sollten selbstverständlich aber auch in den akzeptablen Sozialen Netzwerken verteilt werden, da sind die Voraussetzungen dafür, daß sie wirksam werden auch besser als bei den Datenkraken.

Was Freie Alternativen zu Youtube angeht, so gibt es afaik zur Zeit nur MediaGoblin und das ist ein ziemlicher Mist. Ich hatte selbst mal eine öffentliche Instanz aufgesetzt und mein Server wurde durch einen Fehler in dieser Software als Spamschleuder genutzt. Die Entwickler haben zwar eingestanden, dass es sich dabei um einen Bug handelt, aber >keine grossen Bestrebungen an den Tag gelegt es zu fixen.
Bei mir kommt die Software auf jeden Fall nicht mehr auf den Server. Owncloud bietet aber auch die Möglichkeit Videos zu hosten.
Es folgte eine immer technischer werdende Diskussion, der ich nicht folgen konnte.
4) Keine einleuchtende Erklärung, weshalb Video-Suchmaschinen Videos auf freien Servern nicht finden (wollen). Die Antwort von Florian überzeugt mich nicht, da die meisten Videos durch die Dateiendungen ihrer Container als solche identifizierbar sind:
Keine Verschwörung. Es ist einfacher einige große Plattformen zu durchsuchen als viele kleine. Die vielen kleinen müsste man generell erst mal kennen und dann ist nicht gesagt, dass man da Metadaten in einem einheitlichen Format bekommt.
Es bleibt nur die unbefriedigende Möglichkeit, eine Web(Text-)Suchmaschine zu verwenden, um einige der vorhandenen Videos zu finden.

Teilweise stimme ich dir da zu. Es setzt nicht jeder jede Warnung so um, dass die Gefahr für ihn nicht mehr besteht. Ich denke aber nicht, dass die Botschaft völlig an allen vorbeigeht. Steter Tropfen höhlt bekanntermaßen den Stein und mir ist es lieber, jemand macht sich Gedanken zu so einem Vortrag und setzt manches um als dass man sich gar nicht damit auseinandersetzt.
FOSS-Anliegen
Das ist vielleicht ein ganz gutes Beispiel. RMS bittet auch darum, nicht den Begriff FOSS, sondern FLOSS zu verwenden, weil bei FOSS der Eindruck entstehen könnte, es gehe um frei wie in Freibier. Das ist natürlich nicht ganz das gleiche wie die von dir genannten Beispiele, aber du setzt eben auch nicht jede Bitte um. Deswegen denke ich aber trotzdem, dass du dich intensiv mit dem Vortrag auseinandergesetzt hast und das ist gut. So ist das denke ich bei vielen anderen auch.

Ich sehe das schon als Problem. Andererseits finde ich es unproblematisch, wenn diese Videos _auch_ (also nicht ausschließlich) auf Youtube zu finden sind. Der eine oder andere, der sich nie mit Freier Software auseinandergesetzt hat, stolpert vielleicht darüber und so lange, die, die sich der Überwachung bewusst sind, Alternativen haben, sehe ich kein Problem darin, Informationen an die Leute zu liefern, denen die Überwachung egal ist oder die gar nichts davon wissen.
Auch Stallman selbst "bittet" nur, er setzt sich aber nicht durch.
Das wäre wohl auch schwierig umzusetzen. Es ist ein öffentlicher Vortrag; so lange Videoaufnahmen erlaubt sind, darf man die eigenen Aufnahmen wahrscheinlich einfach veröffentlichen. Bleibt nur das Recht am eigenen Bild und das gibt es in den USA soweit ich weiß nicht so wie in Europa und von daher beruft er sich vermutlich nicht auf sowas. Ich bin aber kein Anwalt und kann diese Situation nicht 100%-ig einschätzen. In jedem Fall wäre es logistisch schwierig die Aufnahmen zu unterbinden -- es gibt so viele unfreie Plattformen und die FSF hat nicht die Ressourcen das alles zu prüfen.

Ist es nicht ein Gebot der Vernunft, auch im Kleinen vorsichtig zu sein?
Hier stimme ich voll zu.
Hat er Recht oder ist er paranoid?
Mit dem was er über die Gegenwart sagt, hat er Recht. Was er über die Zukunft sagt, ist oft schwer vorstellbar. Bisher hatte er damit aber auch so gut wie immer Recht, vor allem wenn es Aussagen über ein Gebiet waren, auf dem er sich wirklich auskennt (also Computer, Software usw.). Was die "Linux"-Leute (ohne GNU) und die Open-Sourcler angeht, sehe ich es nicht ganz so extrem. Ich finde es wichtig, die richtigen Begriffe zu verwenden, damit die Menschen sich mit unseren Idealen auseinandersetzen können.
Bei den Menschen, die andere Begriffe verwenden, ist es schwierig. Es gibt Menschen, die "Open Source" sagen, aber den Freiheitsgedanken meinen. Von denen würde ich mir wünschen, dass sie Freie Software sagen, aber immerhin stehen sie für die Freiheit. Die Begriffe vermischen sich aber immer mehr, so dass man da nicht mehr ganz sauber trennen kann. Prinzipiell hat RMS auch hier recht, aber auf Einzelpersonen bezogen ist die Sache viel schwieriger. Und wenn ich mit Leuten zu tun habe, die "Linux" oder "Open Source" sagen, sind sie meistens zumindest offen für die Freiheit. Oftmals erkenne ich mich da auch selbst wieder wie ich vor 10 - 15 Jahren gesprochen habe. Deswegen antworte ich da und verwende ganz bewusst in meiner Antwort den richtigen Begriff. Ich hoffe dann, dass sie sich weiter mit dem Thema auseinandersetzen und irgendwann auch Freie Software sagen.
Hin und wieder begegne ich aber auch Leuten, die da boshaft werden. Bisher konnte ich das ganz gut ignorieren, aber es gibt da manche Personen, die Leute, die Freie Software vertreten, als Extremisten abstempeln und das geht zu weit. Das ist aber die Minderheit, zumindest so wie ich das erlebe. Alle anderen sind aufgeschlossen und müssen nur noch überzeugt werden. :-)
Oder hat Google/Youtube einfach "gewonnen" und wir können zumindest diesbezüglich nichts tun?
Man kann immer etwas tun. Und man muss auch immer etwas tun. Das ist manchmal schwer und deswegen hilft es, sich mit Gleichgesinnten auseinanderzusetzen. Wer nichts tut, hat schon verloren, aber wer kämpft, sieht zumindest ab und zu einen Erfolg. Wenn ich Bedenken habe, dass wir vorankommen, schaue ich mir an, wie weit Freie Software in den letzten 30 Jahren gekommen ist. Anfangs war alles unfrei und inzwischen können wir (fast) alles in Freiheit erledigen. Es gibt immer neue Hürden und ich denke SaSS (Service as a Software Substitute) und Hardware, die immer mehr verdongelt wird, sind eine große Gefahr. Aber wir werden uns Lösungen überlegen und diese auch umsetzen.
