(Einige von Euch haben diese Mail heute schon persönlich bekommen)
viele Leute sagen, Freie Software sei sicherer als proprietäre Software. Aber was sind die Gründe dafür? Und stimmt das eigentlich? Wir versuchen diese und weitere Fragen in den kommenden Wochen zu beantworten, und Du kannst heute einen großen Teil dazu beitragen - mit nur 10 Minuten Deiner Zeit.
In einem Fragebogen möchten wir Dich bitten, verschiedene Aussagen bezüglich IT-Sicherheit zu bewerten, unterschiedliche Argumentationen und mögliche Empfehlungen der FSFE zu gewichten, und mit uns zusätzliche Quellen zu teilen, die wir übersehen haben könnten. Alle sind herzlich zur Teilnahme eingeladen, unabhängig vom Wissensstand über Freie Software, IT-Sicherheit oder Programmierung. Die Umfrage dauert durchschnittlich ~10 Minuten und ist auf Englisch.

Neben diesem Fragebogen führen wir auch noch Interviews mit Fachleuten aus verschiedenen angrenzenden Bereichen und diskutieren dazu in einigen Teams und Arbeitsgruppen. Unser Ziel ist eine klarere Position zu diesem Thema, damit wir Menschen dabei helfen können, den Einfluss von Freier Software auf IT-Sicherheit zu verstehen.
All das zielt darauf ab, die folgenden weit gefassten Fragen zu beantworten:
1. Was ist der aktuelle Stand von Sicherheit im Freie-Software-Umfeld? 2. Wie kann Sicherheit in Freier Software verbessert werden? 3. Wie kann Freie Software zu Sicherheit in unserer Gesellschaft beitragen?
Deine Teilnahme an dieser Umfrage wird uns helfen, die Sichtweise der FSFE-Community auf dieses Thema besser zu verstehen. Damit können wir uns dann auf spezifische Argumente und Fragen konzentrieren.

Vielleicht kann mensch davon ausgehen, dass ein echter (TM) Sicherheitsexperte in der Lage ist Javascript in einer sichereren Umgebung auszuführen. >;)
