Da ich den natürlich subjektiven Eindruck habe, dass mittlerweile viele Leute so wie Du und ich den FSFE e.V. nicht mehr mitfinanzieren wollen, überlege ich, ob es sich nicht lohnen würde, für diese Leute eine andere Mailingliste einzurichten, damit sie sich weiterhin zu Themen mit Bezug zur Freien Software austauschen können ohne die FSFE-Infrastruktur zu "belasten".
Als es noch Fellows gab, hatten mindestens zwei der Fellows in Köln sowieso Mailman-Instanzen laufen und könnten einfach eine weitere Liste einrichten, ohne das der Administrations-Aufwand deutlich ansteigen würde würde oder neue Kosten entstünden.
Ich administriere z.B. derzeit zwei Mailman-Instanzen.
Die eine gehört formal dem Privoxy-Projekt und dort müsste ich vor der Einrichtung einer weiteren Liste ohne direkten Bezug zu Privoxy die Zustimmung der anderen Team-Mitglieder einholen (was mutmaßlich kein Problem wäre), aber die andere läuft auf meinem eigenen Server und ist eigentlich hauptsächlich für Tests nach Mailman-Updates gedacht, hat aber inzwischen auch mindestens eine "produktiv" genutzte Liste.

Gemerkt hatte ich das erst, als meine Emails vom 14.6. und 21.11.2021 mit dem Betreff "Kein Rechtsstaat für Linux-Nutzer" nicht an die Liste durch gingen. In der letzten Email ging es um das unfreie Videokonferenzsystem, dass Gerichte in Baden-Württemberg verwende(te)n und das ein wichtiges Thema für die FSFE wäre, da es Linux-Nutzern die Teilnahme selbst an ihren eigenen Gerichtsverhandlungen unmöglich macht.
Unabhängig von der Themenbezogenheit meiner Email oder der Meinung der FSFE zu dem Thema, ist eine Sperrung eines Mitglieds ohne Warnung nach einer einzigen Email unverhältnismäßig.

Lieber Fabian, lieber Thomas,
ja es gibt eine solche Liste für Ex-Fellows, aber ich werde sie nicht verlinken, weil die Qualität der Beiträge dort derart unterirdisch ist, dass ich das niemandem zumuten möchte. Wirklich. Manchmal läßt es sich mit Popcorn ertragen, aber meistens bin ich einfach nur angewidert. (Unsubscribe wird dort nicht respektiert.)
Solange Euch die Themen hier interessieren, möchte ich Euch und allen anderen nahelegen, einfach hier zu bleiben, egal, ob Ihr einen finanziellen Beitrag leistet oder nicht. Ich glaube, die meisten schätzen es sehr, dass diese Liste eine Corona-Diskussions-freie Oase geblieben ist. Wenn in der Hitze der ansonsten ausgetragenen Corona-Gefechte mal übermoderiert wurde und Beiträge zu FOSS deshalb untergegangen sind, ist das bedauerlich, aber der Moderator ist auch nur ein Mensch.

ich habe dieses E-Mail auf anderen Mailing-Listen gesehen und finde es gut und richtig, dass unsere Moderatoren dieses hier geblockt haben.
Diese Liste ist da, um über Themen rund um Freie Software zu diskutieren, unabhängig davon, ob man Mitglied der FSFE ist, ihr spendet, in einer lokalen Gruppe oder sonst einem Team aktiv ist oder einfach nur mitdiskutieren möchte.
Dass Grundregeln wie Themenbezogenheit der Diskussion oder eine gewisser Mindest-Respekt hier per Moderation überwacht werden müssen ist traurig, aber bei einer öffentlichen Liste offenbar nicht vermeidbar. Darum möchte ich auch bei dieser Gelegenheit den Freiwilligen danken, die diese mühsame und undankbare Aufgabe laufend übernehmen, und ihnen auch meinen Respekt für die offene Selbstkritik und das laufende Verbessern der Prozesse aussprechen.

Sollte so etwas nochmal vorkommen, bitte ich um den umgehenden Ausschluss von allen Mailinglisten!

Ich denke, dass es im Allgemeinen manchmal akzeptable Gründe gibt, um eine persönliche Kommunikation öffentlich zu machen.

(Es gibt auch andere Möglichkeiten: Vielleicht hat es vorher eine Nachfrage und Erlaubnis zur Weiterleitung gegeben. Oder die Email ist überhaupt nicht voll oder richtig zitiert worden.)
Deshalb irritierte mich Deine Forderung nach einem weitreichenden Ausschluß bei einem Wiederverstoß. Das ermöglichte kaum Austausch und gegenseitiges Lernen, darüber was ein ziviles Verhalten ist.
Mir erscheint es gut die Umstände zu klären und auch zu vermittlen, warum Du das Weiterleiten in dem Fall für unpassend hältst und wie es besser gewesen wäre.

Ich habe die E-Mail sogar als vollständig öffentlichen Brief aufgefasst und bin davon ausgegangen, dass fsfe-de@ nur deshalb nicht in der Empfänger-Liste war, weil Thomas davon ausging, dass seine Mails automatisiert oder manuell gelöscht werden (was ja immer noch nicht geklärt ist).
Ich dachte, Thomas hätte einfach alle oder zumindest viele ihm bekannte Leser von fsfe-de@ auf BCC gesetzt.
Natürlich hat meine Mail dann auch die Lurker auf fsfe-de@ erreicht, aber ich bin davon ausgegangen, dass das aus Thomas' Sicht wünschenswert war.

erstmal vielen Dank für Deine Arbeit an, für Privoxy. Seit über 20 Jahren gehört das Tool bei mir zum Standard auf jedem GNU/Linux system mit Web-Browser. Und jedes Redmonder system welches ich einrichten soll bekommt den proxy auch verpasst.

Ich meine, die ehemaligen Fellows aus Düsseldorf (vom ehemaligem FSFE shop in der Bilker Allee Düsseldorf) haben auch eine Liste. Evtl. weiß Dr. Michael Stehmann da mehr.
PS: Ich zahle auch schon lange nicht mehr an die FSFE sondern nur an die FSF und bin trotzdem auf dieser Liste.

Entschuldigung, aber egal, was man zu manchen Vorgehensweisen in der FSFE hält (ich selbst sehe das von Tag zu Tag kritischer), diese Website hat mit Meinungsäußerung nichts zu tun. Es ist eine Schmutzkampagne, die sehr sicher den Tatbestand der Verleumdung erfüllt.
Dass Pocock dahinter stecken soll, ist mir neu, wundert mich aber nicht, da er bei Debian genau dasselbe macht.
Sind wir hier aber ernsthaft mit Leuten umgeben, die das gutheißen?

ich denke, es ist notwendig und richtig, die "Vorgehensweisen" der FSFE kritisch zu sehen.
Ich denke aber auch, dass die FSFE dies gerade auch von ihren Unterstützern erwartet.
Dessen unbeschadet, muss man auch feststellen, dass die FSFE notwendige Aufgaben hat. Die Ziele der FSFE sind gut und richtig. Daher ist sie auch als Organisation notwendig und unterstützenswürdig.
Auch dies gilt unbeschadet des Umstandes, dass jede Person die Unterstützung selbstbestimmt auf ihre Weise leistet.

magst Du das weiter ausführen? Du (genau wie andere) können wir das auch persönlich schreiben, ich bin immer daran interessiert die Vorgehensweisen der FSFE zu verbessern.

Aus meiner Sicht sind die Vorwürfe und die Begründungen teilweise so absurd, dass sie in Deutschland schon wieder den "Tatbestand" der Satire erfüllen könnten auch wenn Daniel Pollock das eventuell nicht beabsichtigt hat.

Nein. Er entwickelt immer noch Software für und mit Debian, leider.
Geschützt ist nur die Bezeichnung Debian Developer oder DD. Ansonsten ist es ein normaler englischer Begriff, den er verwenden darf. Deshalb denkt das Debian-Projekt auch darüber nach, dem offiziellen Status einen anderen Namen zu geben, der weniger irreführend verwendet werden kann.

da die archives von Pockocks Fellowship-Liste nicht öffentlich sind:
Die letzte Mail ist bei mir vom August ("... trafficked an Albanian woman ..."), also entweder ist die Liste tot oder das unsubscribe hat endlich doch geklappt. Über die Qualität der Liste kann man nicht ernsthaft zwei Meinungen haben. Es ging eigentlich immer um üble Nachrede mit einem Touch Frauenfeindlichkeit und einer starken Fixierung auf die Frage, wer welche Frau abbekommen hat. Und wenn es um andere Themen ging (angeblich ungerechte Behandlung einzelner Personen in der FOSS-Szene durch andere einzelne Personen), dann entweder mit Vergewaltigungsvokabular oder mit Holocaust-Vergleichen. Ein Blick auf die Überschriften in https://debian.community/ zeigt die Fixation von Daniel Pockock und um anderes ging es so gut wie nie.
Geschrieben haben in diesem Jahr ohnehin außer Pockock (unter verschiedenen Adressen) nur noch wenige andere Leute (drei Adlaten, ein Dauertroll, der eine oder andere entsetzte Einzelkommentar und einer, der noch Lust hatte, Pockock Kontra zu geben).
Ich habe auf unserer Liste (also dieser hier) schon mehrfach sachlich Positionen der FSFE kritisiert und daraus ergab sich eine lebhafte Diskussion. Das und auch die Sachbezogenheit der Argumente empfinde ich als angenehm. Das Übermoderation verärgert, kann ich verstehen, aber ich denke, dass sich solche Fälle im Dialog lösen lassen.

Die Liste kannte ich leider schon. Ich bin dort wie viele andere Leute auch unfreiwillig angemeldet worden, wenn ich mich richtig erinnere hat Daniel mal die Empfänger-Liste von den FSFE-Systemen erhalten.
Da nur sehr wenig Traffic über die Liste kam und andere Leute sich angeblich nicht abmelden konnten habe ich wenn ich mich recht entsinne nie versucht, mich selbst abzumelden, habe aber auch schon eine Weile keine Mails mehr über die Liste erhalten.
Ich stimme Dir zu, dass sich jeder selbst ein Bild von der Qualität machen sollte, mich persönlich überzeugt die Qualität leider überhaupt nicht und die Sprache der Liste ist ja auch sowieso Englisch.

Nur zur Klarstellung; Wir verwenden die Abkürzung "FSF-e.V" nicht. Eine derartige Abkürzung ist auch nicht Inhalt unserer Satzung. Außerdem haben wir (praktisch van Anfang an) auch Mitglieder außerhalb des Rheinlandes, auch wenn dort unser Schwerpunkt liegt.
Wir unterhalten Mailing-Listen. Auf diese kann man sich aber nicht selbst einschreiben. Voraussetzung für die Aufnahme ist beispielsweise Interesse an dem jeweiligen Thema (z. B. FYMT) oder eine persönliche Beziehung zum oder Interesse am Verein, dessen Arbeit bzw. zu dessen Mitgliedern (wir heißen nicht zufällig "Freunde" und haben daher auch keinen "Code of Conduct" [0]).
Unser Verein wurde von Mitgliedern und Fellows der FSFE gegründet. Wir verstehen uns als eine "Ergänzung" der Organisationen und Projekte, die es in der Freien-Software-Gemeinschaft bereits gibt. Wir teilen die Ziele der FSFE. "Konkurrenzdenken" ist uns fremd. [1)
Wir bemühen uns, freundschaftliches Verhältnisse zu Mitgliedern und Unterstützern der FSFE zu pflegen, und unterstützen auch -jede(r) nach ihren/seinen Möglichkeiten und Vorlieben - deren Arbeit. (Man kann dabei unsere Solidarität durchaus auch eine "kritische" bezeichnen.)
Unsere Veranstaltungen kündigen wir in der Regel daher nicht nur im WWW, sondern beispielsweise auch auf Mailinglisten an, die von der FSFE unterhalten werden.

Ich halte Vereins-interne Mailinglisten natürlich für legitim, aber wenn die Mailinglisten nicht öffentlich sind und man sich nicht selbst anmelden kann, eignen sie sich aus meiner Sicht schlecht für das Ziel, freie Diskussionen mit Bezug zum Thema Freie Software zu ermöglichen.
Solange die Listen gar nicht dafür gedacht sind ist das natürlich auch kein Problem.
Dass Ihr keinen "Code of Conduct" braucht war mir natürlich bereits bekannt und ich finde das vorbildlich.
Übrigens habe ich den Eindruck, dass das Unterdrücken von Thomas' Mails eine Code-Of-Conduct-Verletzung war, denn es heißt:

Ich finde es übrigens etwas absurd, dass die FSFE sechs Menschen für das Care-Team abstellt aber, wenn ich Florians Mails richtig interpretiere, nicht genug Ressourcen für die Mailman-Moderation hat.

Sowohl auf unserer Liste als auch sonst sind die Diskussionen stets frei. Manchmal sind sie kontrovers, aber in der Regel sachlich, interessant und von freundschaftlichem Respekt getragen.
In der Freien-Software-Bewegungen sind meiner Erfahrung nach starke Persönlichkeiten, die zum eigenständigen Denken und zu eigener Meinungsbildung willens und in der Lage sind, ihre Ansichten auch vertreten und Widerspruch ertragen können. (Und das ist auch gut so!)
Solange die Listen gar nicht dafür gedacht sind ist das natürlich auch kein Problem.
Eine öffentliche Liste zur freien Diskussion Themen mit Bezug auf Freie Software und Offene Standards ist diese hier.
Bisher wurde eine Notwendigkeit, eine "Konkurrenzveranstaltung" aufzuziehen, bei uns nicht gesehen.
Da auch unsere personellen Ressourcen limitiert sind, wäre leider gegebenenfalls auch eine Priorisierung vorzunehmen.
Unsere regelmäßigen Veranstaltung sind öffentlich und man kann dort auch frei Themen mit Bezug auf Freie Software und Offene Standards diskutieren. Man kann hierüber sogar Vorträge halten.
Meiner Erfahrung nach gilt das auch für die Bonner FSFE-Community (und viele andere).
Ich hoffe, dass bald auch wieder Veranstaltungen "im richtigen Leben" - auch in Köln - verantwortbar sind

Auch in dieser Frage gibt es bei uns unterschiedliche Meinungen. Manche von uns halten einen Code of Conduct durchaus für sinnvoll.

Prioritätensetzungen sind IMO meist diskutabel.
Die Ziele der FSFE teilen vermutlich die meisten Leute, die im Bereich der Freien Software aktiv sind.
Das empfinde ich als gut und richtig. Da in der Freien-Software-Bewegungen starke Persönlichkeiten wird es sicherlich nicht nur einen Weg geben, diese Ziele nachhaltig und energisch zu verfolgen. Den "Rest" erledigen dann Toleranz und Respekt.

vielen Dank Fabian für Deine Meldung. Wir nehmen jede Meldung zu einer CoC-Verletzung ernst und diskutieren diese gemeinsam im Team, daher auch die Verzögerung der Antwort; bitte entschuldige diese.
Als Care-Team haben wir uns die gemeldete Code of Conduct Verletzung angeschaut und sind zu folgendem Schluss gekommen: Wir haben kein unangemessenes Verhalten im Sinne des Code of Conduct der FSFE gefunden. Es tut uns Leid zu hören, dass es bei der Moderation der Liste zu Versäumnissen kam. Dies ist in der Tat problematisch! Wenn on-topic E-Mails nicht mehr auf die Mailing-Liste kommen sehen wir dies auch als CARE-Team sehr problematisch. In diesem Fall, hatte Florian sich bereits für Versäumnisse in der Moderation entschuldigt und erklärt, dass dem kein böswilliges Verhalten zu Grunde liegt oder gar absichtlich Mails unterdrückt wurden. Florian hat ebenfalls gesagt, dass die Moderation in Zukunft besser gestaltet wird. Da es sich hierbei also um menschliche Fehler handelt sehen wir trotz der problematischen Situation keine Verletzung des CoC. Ich möchte auch gerne nochmal hervorheben, dass Florian die Moderation dieser Liste ehrenamtlich macht. Dabei ist mir vor allem wichtig nochmal darauf hinzuweisen, dass eine ehrenamtliche Tätigkeit bedeutet, dass eine Person die eigene Freizeit dafür aufwendet. Natürlich schützt einen das Ehrenamt dabei nicht vor konstruktiver Kritik.
Zu dem Entfernen einer off-topic Mail: Der Code of Conduct ist ins Leben gerufen worden um Diffamierung, Angriffe (jeglicher Form, verbal oder non-verbal, etc.), Schikane oder Belästigung Einzelner oder Gruppen zu verhindern. Durch das Entfernen der off-topic E-Mail wurde weder eine Person oder Gruppe diffamiert, angegriffen, schikaniert oder belästigt. Das Entfernen bzw. Nicht-Erlauben von E-Mails liegt in der Entscheidungsgewalt der Listenmoderation, sollten hierbei on-topic E-Mails absichtlich unterdrückt werden, ist dies für uns als CARE-Team eine Situation die wir uns im Sinne des CoC anschauen und bewerten.
Des Weiteren zu dem Punkt wie die FSFE es schafft 6 Leute im CARE-Team zu haben aber nicht genügend Ressourcen für die Mailinglisten Moderation: Als CARE-Team, bestehend aus 6 Personen, sind wir für alle aktiven Menschen innerhalb der FSFE Strukturen da und dafür zuständig uns mit allen Beschwerden innerhalb der FSFE Strukturen zu befassen. Dies umfasst unter anderem alle Mailinglisten [1] und Communities bzw. lokalen Gruppen der FSFE [2].

Ich verstehe, was Du meinst, ich bekomme bei der Argumentation "es ist ehrenamtlich, da kann man schonmal ein Auge zudrücken" allerdings und besonders im FLOSS-Bereich immer etwas Bauschmerzen, weil mir hier einer der Hauptgründe dafür zu liegen scheint, warum ich mich so oft (und wenn dann: so lange) mit Problemen bei FLOSS-Projekten herumärgern muss (meist aufgrund miserabler Dokus). Wenn man eine Arbeit ehrenamtlich macht, dann doch "der Ehre wegen", was zumindest bei mir (also, was meine ehrenamtlichen Aufgaben betrifft) zu höheren Qualitätsansprüchen führt als bei "Lohnarbeit". Das kann man natürlich anders sehen/definieren, es weicht aber meinem Empfinden nach die Bezeichnung "Ehrenamt" auf.

"Schikane" laut Duden: "[unter Ausnutzung staatlicher oder dienstlicher Machtbefugnisse getroffene] Maßnahme, durch die jemandem unnötig Schwierigkeiten bereitet werden" - wenn Mails nicht durchkommen, weil man "auf Moderation" gesetzt wurde, ist es schon plausibel, es als Schikane zu empfinden. Ob gewollt oder versehentlich, macht im Ergebnis wenig Unterschied (jedenfalls dann nicht, wenn abzusehen war, dass die Ressourcen nicht ausreichen, der Moderation vollumfänglich nachzukommen).
Danke dennoch an dieser Stelle für alle ehrenamtlichen Tätigkeiten, die uns die wertvollen Diskussionen hier ermöglichen! :)

Es wäre also denkbar, dass Du gar nicht auf FSFE-Listen gesperrt bist, sondern nur nach Deiner PDF-Mail das Moderations-Flag gesetzt wurde und Deine anderen Mails jetzt noch in der Moderations-Queue hängen.
Vielleicht kann ja Florian dazu etwas sagen wenn er wieder Zeit hat oder vielleicht kommen die Mails ja noch durch, was ebenfalls für die Moderations-Flag-Theorie sprechen würde.
Also gesperrt ist tatsächlich niemand hier. Aber es gibt hier einige Teilnehmer, bei denen das Moderationsflag gesetzt ist. Das mache ich zum einen dann, wenn Off-Topic-Mails verschickt werden oder wenn vermehrt stark geflamt wird oder so. Und dann habe ich vor einiger Zeit die Anmeldeoptionen verändert. Früher musste jeder neue Teilnehmer manuell bestätigt werden. Letztendlich habe ich aber jeden bestätigt, denn an welchem Kriterium sollte ich einschätzen wie sich jemand hier verhält. Um aber Spam und Trollen zu vermindern, kann sich jetzt jeder einfach anmelden, wird aber erst mal auf moderiert gesetzt. Wenn man dann nach 1-2 Mails sieht, dass es eine echte Person ist, die hier diskutieren möchte, nimmt man das Flag weg. Im Idealfall merkt man nicht mal, dass das Flag anfangs gesetzt war.
Soviel zum Vorgehen allgemein, der Transparenz wegen. Wenn jetzt jemand auf moderiert steht und sich niemand drum kümmert (zu den Gründen habe ich ja schon geschrieben, auch wenn ich das selber problematisch finde), dann ist das faktisch wie eine Sperrung. Das tut mir auch leid. Aktuell sind schon seit ein paar Tagen keine Mails mehr in der Queue. Ich weiß aber ehrlich gesagt auch nicht wie lange Mailman solche Mails aufhebt. Es geht hier ja um Mails, die schon vor längerer Zeit verschickt wurden. Mehr weiß ich leider auch nicht dazu, aber ich kann euch versichern, dass hier nicht absichtlich Mails wegkommen, die on-topic sind. Ihr seht ja auch immer wieder, dass Kritik direkt an der FSFE und Hinweise auf andere Mailinglisten verteilt werden und auch wenn das kein Beweis ist, macht es hoffentlich deutlich, dass hier niemand Kritik scheut und deswegen Mails unterdrückt.
Ich möchte mich aber nochmal dafür entschuldigen, wie das gelaufen ist. Es sind ja offenbar auch Mails gar nicht zugestellt worden und ich kann mir das nur damit erklären, dass wegen der langen Zeit, in der ich mich nicht darum gekümmert habe, Mails automatisch nach Ablauf einer Frist verworfen wurden oder zwischen Spammails (die hier auch zahlreich eingehen) versehentlich mit gelöscht wurden. Das weiß ich zwar nicht genau, ist aber die plausibelste Erklärung für mich.

danke, dass Du hier so transparent kommunizierst. Ich möchte für alle nochmal hervorheben, dass u.a. Florian das ganze ehrenamtlich macht, genauso wie – zusammen mit Björn – die Koordination des Deutschland-Teams. Das schließt jemanden natürlich nicht von Kritik aus, sie sollte aber fair und angemessen sein. Vorwürfe, dass von den Ehrenamtlichen hier ein "Zensurregime" gefahren wird, fallen IMHO da total raus.

Sysadmin hier: Habe mal die Listenkonfiguration angeschaut, der Wert für max_days_to_hold, das genau dieses Phänomen beschreibt, steht auf 60 Tage. Das ist aber individuell pro Liste anpassbar und auch komplett abschaltbar.
