Wenn ich mich richtig erinnere, hatten wir zu dieser Zeit gerade Probleme mit massiven Flamewars und Trollen auf unseren Mailing-Listen. Unser Ziel war es, unseren Fellows eine Plattform zur Verfügung zu stellen, auf der sie ernsthaft über Freie Software diskutieren können, und die Beschränkung des Zugangs auf Fellows erschien uns damals als einfache und wirksame Möglichkeit, Provokateure draußen zu halten.
Natürlich kann man diese Entscheidung immer mal wieder hinterfragen, aber als jemand, der regelmäßig sowohl in diesem Jabber-Raum als auch im komplett offenen Kanal #fsfe auf freenode herumhängt, habe ich das Gefühl, dass das immer noch gut funktioniert und (leider) auch immer noch notwendig ist.
