klasse, das Tagesschau-Beispiel ist genau das, was ich gesucht habe!
Eine große, anerkannte Organisation, die ihre App über einen sicheren Kanal bereitstellt, der nicht von den Datenkraken-Unternehmen kontrolliert wird.

so würde ich das nicht nennen, sondern einfach "über eine eigenes F-Droid-Repository". Ich habe diese URL eben in F-Droid unter Settings -> Repositories eingebunden und konnte damit erstmals bei mir die Tagesschau-App installieren und ausprobieren. Es ist genau so wie F-Droid gedacht ist, nämlich, dass man Quellen von unterschiedlichen Anbietern einbinden kann. Was die Anbieter einstellen, ist deren Sache (frei oder proprietär). Ich als Nutzer muss aber nur diesem App-Anbieter (der Tagesschau) vertrauen und nicht auch noch Google & Co.
Schöner wäre es natürlich frei, aber das hier ist schon mal ein Riesenschritt auf dem Weg zu einer dezentralen Distribution von Apps.

Hat sich schon mal jemand Gedanken gemacht wie kann man es erreichen, dass Unternehmen wie Banken, öffentliche Personenverkehr (insbesondere Bahn) und Krankenkassen, deren Einkünfte nicht aus dem Verkauf von Software bezogen wird. Gibt es schon Diskussionen oder Artikel dazu, die man in der Kommunikation mit Entscheidern dieser Unternehmenskategorie verwenden kann? Gibt es möglicherweise schon prominente Beispiele?

Konsequenz: Viele Entwickler, die davon leben müssen (und gerade auch solche, die Apps entwickeln, die tatsächlich "standalone" ohne Netzwerkdienste funktionieren, und die teilweise auch einen hohen Aufwand außerhalb reiner Entwicklung haben - etwa Spiele), veröffentlichen Apps nicht als Freie Software, weil die Möglichkeit fehlt, die Entwicklung irgendwie zu refinanzieren.
Wie antwortet Ihr in solchen Diskussionen? Wie bekommt man Software hin, die "libre" ist, ohne zwingend "gratis" sein zu müssen? Wie kann Entwickler mit Freier Software notfalls Rechnungen bezahlen, ohne Nutzer in proprietäre Lizenzmodelle zu zwingen?
