Nein, es gibt diesen speziellen Interessenskonflikt nicht immer. Manche Unternehmen haben einen klaren Auftraggeber und vertreten dessen Interessen. (Eigentlich haben alle "Unternehmen" eine Gewinnabsicht.)
Die nebulöse Andeutung, ein Anzeigen-orientiertes Geschäftsmodell würde automatisch zu negativen Verhalten führen, ist IMHO reiner FUD --

ich sehe nicht, wie ein Aufweichen der Rankings den Anzeigenverkauf fördern sollte.
Der von mir zitierte (wissenschaftliche) Artikel zeigte, dass Google bei der Absicherung der ausgelieferten Ergebnisse zu dem Zeitpunkt der Studie weniger Wert auf die Sicherheit der Webseiten gelegt hat, als andere Anbieter. Strengere Anforderungen und Kontrolle der Anzeigen-Kunden von Google, würden den Preis erhöhen und den Ertag und die Attraktivität von Google für diese Kunden verringern.
Wichtig ist, dass dies den Nutzern von Google klar wird. Google verkauft Nutzer an seine Werbekunden. Und ich möchte mich nicht so verkaufen lassen. (Interessant dazu auch: http://www.schneier.com/crypto-gram-1101.html#1 zumindest ab "decustomerization" lesen: "This is important because it destroys what's left of the normal business relationship between IT companies and their users. We're not Google's customers; we're Google's product that they sell to their customers.")
