Das "Heutzutage" kannst du streichen. Zumindest in den letzten 15 Jahren hat sich da nicht viel geändert.
Ganz früher war es vielleicht anders, als jeder Computer- Nutzer automatisch ein Techniker bzw. Wissenschaftler war.
Daran stört mich die natürlich erst einmal die proprietäre Software und zusätzlich das Abtesten programm-spezifischer Fertigkeiten. Ersteres habe ich bei einem von Microsoft finanzierten und der jetzigen Bundesregierung unterstützten [1,2] Werbekampange nicht anders erwartet. Zweiteres würde mich auch bei Freier Software stören.

Vielmehr sollte doch bei der Bildung auf theoretische und zeitlosere Inhalte als das Bedienen von graphischen Bentuzeroberflächen wertgelegt werden. Das Lambda-Kalkül oder eine Turing-Maschine sind beispielsweise nach Jahrzehnten nach wie vor aktuell;
Grundsätzlich ACK, aber Lambda-Kalkül und Turing-Maschine sind sehr schlechte Beispiele. Es geht hier um produktive Computer- Nutzung, nicht um Informatik! (auch wenn das viele in einen Hut werfen)
Es müssen Konzepte gelernt werden statt Produkte, aber diese Konzepte sollten sein: Was sind die zwei Hauptformen der Text- verarbeitung und wie sehen die aus? (WYSIWYG vs. Auszeichnungs- Sprachen) Was sind die zwei Hauptformen der Grafikverarbeitung (Rastergrafik vs. Vektorgrafik), und was setzt man wann ein? Was sind die wichtigsten Dienste des Internet? (WWW, E-Mail, Chat/IM, ...)
Sowas eben. Ich will, dass die Leute das Medium gut genug verstehen, um aus _eigener_ Erkenntnis bei Phishing-Mails stutzig zu werden. Dazu müssen sie nicht TCP/IP, SMTP oder HTTP erklären können, und Ahnung von DNS brauchen sie auch nicht. Das ist unnötiger Ballast, der Nicht-Informatiker vom Wesentlichen ablenken würde ... und BTW, der auch uns Informatiker oft genug vom Wesentlichen ablenkt. ;-)
Benutzeroberflächen ändern sich jedes Jahr.
Benutzeroberflächen haben sich erstaunlich wenig geändert, die Verbesserungen erfolgen schrittweise über lange Zeiträume. Alles, was _wirklich_ neu ist, genießt (zurecht?) ein Schattendasein.
Die Konzepte der Kommandozeile und Autovervollständigung sind uralt. Die Bedienung mit Knöpfen (Tastatur) und Maus und einer Fenster-Metapher ebenfalls. Der letzte nennenswerte "Durchbruch" war die Erführung von Drag & Drop. Alle anderen Verbesserungen sind auch gut und wichtig, aber eben in vielen kleinen Schritten, über lange Zeiträume.
Ein KDE-4-Nutzer wird zum Beispiel mit einem MacOS 8 oder einem Windows-3 nicht allzu große Schwierigkeiten haben.
Man mag zwar argumentieren, dies sei in der Praxis nicht aktuell und Leute müssten eine Vorstellung von Computern haben, die sich auf das für ihre Produktivearbeit nötige beschränkt,
Zumindest das sollte erstmal vermittelt werden, daran scheitert es oft schon. Erst dadurch entsteht Interesse an mehr.
Wer Textverarbeitung verstehen will, sollte verschiedene Textverarbeitungen zu Gesicht bekommen. Die Flexibilität, das Produkt wechseln zu können, sehe ich als durchaus praktisch wichtiges Wissen an. Zu wissen, was eine Turingmaschine ist, hilft hingegen nicht, sondern ist bei einem Neuling eher kontra- produktiv.

Wessen Produktivität? Du suggerierst, Produktivität wäre etwas Schlechtes, dabei ist es _genau_ das, was jeder nicht technikaffine Benutzer von seinem Computer erwartet. Nicht für irgendeine Firma, sondern in erster Linie für sich selbst - für den eigenen Alltag, für die persönlichen Interessen. Und natürlich auch für Arbeit, sowohl bezahlte als auch ehrenamtliche.
Diese Vorstellung deckt sich jedoch nicht mit meinem Bildungsideal und -anspruch, denn viel spannenderes als neues Wissen zu erhalten gibt es im Leben nicht so oft.
Jeder sollte sich seinen Interessen entsprechend bilden. Auch wenn ich angehender Mathematiker und Informatiker bin, kann ich jeden gut verstehen, der sich einen Dreck um Turingmaschinen schert.
Die Grundlagen der Informatik sind eine _völlig_ andere Welt als die Grundlagen der Computernutzung. Dass auf letztere in der Allgemeinbildung mehr Wert gelegt wird, ist in meinen Augen etwas _Positives_, und widerspricht meinem Bildungsideal in keiner Weise.
Im Gegenteil: Die Ignoranz eben dieser einfachen Tatsache führt zu den großen Problemen in der Benutzbarkeit der Technik, die wir selbst heute im Jahre 2009 noch haben, und wo es vorallem in den Freie-Software-Projekten an Leuten mangelt, die sich intensiv damit beschäftigen und auskennen. Aber das ist ein anderes Thema.
Ich würde mich deshalb freuen, wenn die FSFE sich wenigstens für ersteren Kritikpunkt bei Angela Merkel schriftlich beschwert, wenn schon nicht 2007 geschehen.
Wieso keine öffentliche Beschwerde? Und wieso ausgerechnet die Bundeskanzlerin anschreiben und nicht das zuständige Ministerium?
