Mir persoenlich ist Funktionalitaet (die ich von "reguaeleren" aka. prohibitaeren Telefonen her kenne) nicht so wichtig: Telefonieren und SMS, der Rest ist Nice-To-Have.
Um die OpenMoko Situation bewerten zu können, reicht es nicht in dem announce ML Archiv nachzusehen. Kleine Announcements im 2 Wochen Abstand gibt es auf der Community ML. Diese Announcements werden von Freiwilligen in konzentrierter Form im Wiki festgehalten.
Okay, ich sollte dort also auch mich mal eintragen.
Auf der OM-Kernel ML ist es in letzter Zeit ruhig geworden. Ich hoffe das heisst, es gibt keine größeren Schwierigkeiten und bereitet sich darauf vor geteste Geräte auszuliefern. :)
Hoert sich so gut an, ohne die gesamte Geschichte (Mailingliste) gelesen zu haben.
Das Freerunner wird schon irgendwann dieses Jahr kommen - die Software wird zunächst aber nicht dem entsprechen (funktionsmäßig), was du von einem Telefon mit proprietärem System bekommen kannst. Umgekehrt wird das Neo/Freerunner Dinge können, die du auf proprietären Plattformen niemals bekommen wirst (weil unternehmensstrategisch nicht gewollt).
Die Detailliste wird sich dann bestimmt - schoen waere hier eine Vergleichsliste - auf dem OM-Wiki zu finden sein.
Das große Geld verdienen will das Unternehmen mit dem aktuellen Produkt noch nicht - diese Aufgabe ist den Nachfolgemodellen vorbehalten, die nicht das Problem haben werden, dass das Design nicht mehr geändert werden darf.
Okay, das sollte auch nicht das _erste_ Ziel sein, wenn man *echte* OpenSource-Handys anbietet. Vielmehr sollte Freiheit in Vordergrund stehen. Aber damit laesst sich bekanntlicherweise nicht die Produktion und Entwicklung der Hardware bezahlen... :-(
