Allerdings benutzen wir weder Slack noch Discord, sondern Matrix/Riot. Dieses inzwischen sehr ordentliche Protokoll wollte ich hier nicht unerwähnt lassen. Wir sollten das viel mehr promoten. Dafür braucht es mehr Server. Matrix.org ist völlig überfüllt und eigentlich auch nicht für den Produktivbetrieb gedacht.
Die FSFE sollte sich einen Matrix-Server zulegen. Das wäre ein ganz wichtiger Schritt zur Förderung freier Kommunikation.
jep, aber wurde das nicht schon im Zuge der Diskussion mit dem Thema "Freie Alternative zu einer Whatsapp/Threema-Gruppe" im Juli 2018 vorgeschlagen? Ich erinnere mich dunkel, dass ich min. mit einer FSFE-Person dazu in Kontakt war... es lief aber eher darauf hinaus, sowas zu mieten anstatt es selbst zu hosten.
Ein FSFE-Matrix-Account wäre jedenfalls für mich ein echter Mehrwert (wobei dieser daran hinge, dass Riot endlich Multi-Accounts unterstützt, was aber wohl erst mit dem Nachfolger RiotX kommen wird [1]). Muss ja nicht heißen, dass man den XMPP-Service der FSFE einstellt, auch da gibt es sicher einen "harten Kern", der XMPP bevorzugt (ohne die Diskussion dazu wieder aufnehmen zu wollen).
Allerdings denke ich nicht, dass der Umstieg von Mail auf Chat irgendetwas am gegenseitigen Umgang ändert (und fände es arbeitsorganisatorisch fatal, Mail durch Instant Messenger zu ersetzen). In beiden Medien können gehörig die Fetzen fliegen und der Umstand, dass man gefühlt "unmittelbarer" kommuniziert, kann die Stimmung in einem Chat meiner Meinung nach krasser aufheitzen als eine Mail, wo die "asynchronere" Kommunikation eher noch dafür sorgt, sich gegenseitig "ausreden" zu lassen.

Dahinter steckt pure (wenn auch mit entsprechender Werbemacht induzierte) Bequemlichkeit seitens der User und seitens IT-Administrationen eine (leider nachvollziehbare) Unlust, noch irgendetwas selbst zu hosten, denn das macht bei Problemen nur schlaflose Nächte, deswegen wird ausgelagert, was nur geht und wenn die halbe Belegschaft eh schon ihre "Schatten-IT" via Slack-Webapp betreibt, hat man 'ne Menge Ärger vom Tisch, wenn man solche Services zum offiziellen Standard erhebt. Ein Datenschutz, der dem Recht gerecht wird, aber unterm Strich nicht den Menschen, ist dann der Sargnagel für jede digitale Autonomie, denn mit einem vernünftigen Datenschutzanspruch wären freie, föderale Alternativen wie Mail und Matrix, betrieben in eigener Infrastruktur, alternativlos.
Kurzum: Wir haben noch unendlich viel Bildungsarbeit vor uns, bevor der Wahnsinn [1] ansatzweise ein Ende nimmt und bis dahin müssen wir wohl leider viele langsame, qualvolle Erstickungstode sterben.
