Ich werfe mal die Gegenthese in den Raum, dass allein die Idee, von Musik und Filmen einen "Quellcode" haben zu wollen, schon sehr "nerdig" ist. Und soweit ich das sehen kann, ist dieser Wunsch bei den "Nerds" viel stärker verankert als z.B. bei Musikern und Filmemachern.
Gut möglich, dass Künstler den Wert kultureller Werke insgesamt höher einschätzen als der Normalbürger, und dass sie damit recht haben. (Ich persönlich stimme dem jedenfalls vollkommen zu!) Aber davon merkt man leider nicht viel.
Ist es nicht bezeichnend, dass der offizielle Einführungs-Film von Creative Commons "Get Creative!" [1] nicht im Quellcode vorliegt? Und dass es überhaupt nur ein kleine Gruppe von Video-Künstlern gibt, die ihren Quellcode veröffentlichen? Und dass sich diese Gruppe komplett aus Blender-Enthusiasten [2] rekurtiert, also aus einer ziemlichen "Nerd-Ecke" stammt?
Und die vielen guten Musikstücke, die wir im Quellcode vorzuliegen haben, die stammen doch alle aus den 80er Jahren! Die wurden von musikalisch begabten Computer-Nerds zusammengehackt, zum Teil mit selbstgeschriebener Tracker- Software. Heutzutage gibt es viel bessere Tracker. Gut, die meisten sind proprietär, aber deshalb kann man doch trotzdem die Quelldaten seines Musikstücks veröffentlichen! Stattdessen bekommt man, wenn überhaupt, also "Quellcode" höchstens die WAV-Datei, aus der die MP3-Datei erzeugt wurde.
Es erscheint mir auch sehr wichtig, dieses Thema hier zu diskutieren, da die FSFE und ihre Fellowship in ein Umfeld (oder eine "Community") eingebettet ist, in der die zukünftige Entwicklung des Kulturschaffens und des Urheberrechts vor dem Hintergrund eines als ungünstig empfundenen status quo lebhaft diskutiert wird.
Ich werfe mal die Verschwörungstheorie in den Raum, dass die ganzen Nerds aus der FSFE deine Ansicht sowieso längst teilen.
Und dass sie die Quellcode- und Freiheits-Forderungen lieber gestern als heute auch auf Kunstwerke ausdehnen wollen. Dass sie das nicht öffentlich fordern, sondern nur hinter vorgehaltener Hand liegt an einer internen Agenda. Die wollen die Künstler nicht verschrecken. Diese sollen erstmal mit Creative Commons warm werden und sich daran gewöhnen, bevor man ihnen den Gedanken der wirklichen Freiheiten und den großen Wert von Quellcode vermitteln kann. ;-)
(Kurze Klarstellung: Ich persönlich sehe keine so große Kluft zwischen Künstlern und Programmierern, das sind in meinen Augen alles irgendwie Nerds. Ich habe diese Gruppen hier lediglich aus humoristischen Gründen mal plakativ gegenüber gestellt.)
