Hallo zusammen,
auch dieses mal war der Freie Software Abend Online mit etwa 20
Teilnehmern wieder ein voller
Erfolg. Es gab wieder einige neue Gesichter und dementspechend eine
Vorstellungsrunde.
Das Thema war dieses mal "Freie Software für smarte Heim". Zuerst wurde
über die Gerätschaften
gesprochen die überhaupt genutzt werden können.
Während es kaum Geräte gibt die von Haus aus freie Software als Firmware
nutzen gibt es dennoch
die Möglichkeit viele Geräte auf eine alternative freie Software
umzuflashen (=die Firmware
ersetzen). Das wohl mit Abstand größte Beispiel einer solchen freien
Firmware ist Tasmota[0].
Tasmota ist bereits für eine Menge Geräte verfügbar und lässt sich bei
manchen (neuen) Geräten
OTA auf die Geräte flashen, sodass man sogar ohne Equipment wie z.B.
Flashklemmen und ohne das
Gerät aufzuschrauben die Firmware ersetzen kann. Tasmota war
ursprünglich ein Projekt für
"smarte" Steckdosen, unterstützt heute aber auch andere Gerätschaften.

Neben dem umflashen von Geräten ist es auch möglich unfreie Geräte mit
unfreier Firmware an
freie Software anzubinden und sie durch freie Software zu steueren. So
gibt es beispielsweise
einige Projekte die es ermöglichen IKEA Tradfri Geräte an freie Software
anzubinden.
Die Steuerungssoftware ist ein weiterer wichtiger Punkt für
Heimautomatisierung. Ein Beispiel
einer einer Steuerungssoftware ist FHEM[1]. FHEM bestichct vor allem
dadurch, dass es sehr viele
IOT-Protokolle unterstützt und dadurch die meisten Geräte direkt
unterstützt und desweitern über
viele Schnittstellen steuerbar ist. Ein weiteres Beispiel solcher
Software ist Node-RED[2], das
es ermöglicht Automatismen durch eine einfache visuelle
Programmierungsoberfläche zu programmieren.
Aber das sind beides Komplettlösungen die schon Frontend und Backend in
fertiger Form
bereitstellen. Es gibt aber auch die Möglichkeit sich selbst ein
Heimautomatisierungssystem zu
basteln. Eine Möglichkeit dazu ist die Nutzung von MQTT als Protokoll
zur Steuerung der Geräte.
MQTT ist ein sehr einfaches, schlankes und performantes Protokoll das
z.B. von Tasmota-Geräten
aber auch manchen anderen Geräten unterstützt wird und auch bei
selbstgebastelter Firmware recht
einfach umzusetzen ist. MQTT-Clients müssen sich nur zu einem
MQTT-Server verbinden. Zu Genaurem
zum MQTT-Protokoll werde ich bald für den Chaos Computer Club Cologne
einen Vortrag in Form
eines OpenChaos halten. (TBA)
Der wohl populärste MQTT-Broker (Server) ist Eclipse Mosquitto[4] und
ist freie Software. Tests
von mehreren Anwesenden haben gezeigt, dass dieser nur wenige Resourcen
braucht und selbst mit
absurd hohen Lasten (Menge von Nachrichten und Clients) ohne größere
Probleme zurecht kommt und
dass der Server keine bemerkbaren Stabilitätsprobleme hat.
MQTT an sich ist aber nur das Protokoll, nun muss man aber auch etwas
zur Steuerung haben. Eine
Möglichkeit ist es ein Webinterface zu machen, dass nichts anderes macht
als die
Steuerungs-MQTT-Nachrichten absetzt. Diesen Ansatz verfolgt zum Beispiel
der CCC Freiburg[5].
Dafür kann man Eclipse Paho[6] als MQTT-Client-Library verwenden und
MQTT-Nachrichten über
WebSockets senden. Der CCC Köln verwendet einen ähnlichen Ansatz, nur
dass zusätzlich noch ein
seperater Automatisierungsserver bestimmte Dinge automatisiert.[7,8,9]
Die oben genannte Tasmota Firmware unterstützt beispielsweise MQTT,
durch Bridges lassen sich
aber auch andere Protokolle wie z.B. Zigbee an MQTT anschließen.[10]
An diesem Punkt ist die Gesprächsrunde von Software mit der wir uns gut
auskennen zu Dingen von
denen wir mal gehört haben übergegangen.
Dazu zählt unter anderem Smart Visu als IOT-Dashboard[11]. Home
Assistant und openHAB als
IOT-Komplettlösungen.[12,13,14]
Aber auch das Thema der Sprachgesteurten Assistenten wurde aufgegriffen,
mit Susi.AI[15] von
FOSSASIA[16,17] und Mycroft AI[18] als Komplettlösungen, und Khaldi[19]
und Sphinx 4[20] als
Spracherkennungstools. Zusätzlich wurde auf zwei Artikel von Make und
Heise zu dem Thema
verwiesen.[21,22]
Alles in allem war der Abend ein großer Erfolg und ich denke jeder der
Anwesenden konnte etwas
neues lernen.

Hallo,
am 18. Juni 19.00 – 20.30 Uhr findet die Diskussionsveranstaltung "forum
digital: Alles Open - oder was?" von der Konrad-Adenauer Stiftung statt.
[1] Es soll um den Parteitagsbeschluss der CDU gehen (Digitalcharta
Innovationsplattform: D). Neben Nadine Schön, Stellvertretende
Vorsitzende der CDU/CSU-Fraktion und PD Dr. Ariane Berger, Leiterin
Digitalisierung, Deutscher Landkreistag, darf ich als Vertreter der FSFE
dabei sein.
Die Veranstaltung wird auf kas.de übertragen und es gibt auch eine
Aufzeichnung.
Ich denke, die Debatte könnte ganz spannend werden. Ich würde mich
freuen, wenn ihr zuschaut und mir danach euer Feedback sendet.

Hallo zusammen,
Ich möchte relativ kurzfristig auf eine Veranstaltung eines Vereins hinweisen, bei dem ich Mitglied bin. Vielleicht hat in dieser Runde ja jemand Interesse daran.
Ein wenig zur Vorgeschichte:
Bereits im Februar haben wir in unserem Landesverband, den Jungen Europäischen Föderalisten Rheinland-Pfalz, den Beschluss gefasst verstärkt und wo immer möglich auf Freie Software zu setzen. Seit diesem Zeitpunkt unterstützen wir auch ausdrücklich die "Public Money? Public Code!" Initiative der FSFE (Auf der PMPC-Seite[0] könnt ihr auch unser Logo finden).
Doch das ist uns noch nicht genug, denn die Vorteile die wir in Freier Software für Demokratie, Wirtschaft und für die Gesellschaft in Europa sehen liegen klar auf der Hand. Aus diesem Grund werden wir bei unserem diesjährigen Bundeskongress der Jungen Europäischen Föderalisten Deutschland zwei entsprechende Anträge einbringen. Einmal zur verstärkten Nutzung Freier Software im Allgemeinen und einmal zur Unterstützung der "Public Money? Public Code!" Kampagne.
Und nun zur Veranstaltung:
Am heutigen Abend, Mittwoch 10.06.2020 um 20:00 besprechen und diskutieren wir unsere beiden Anträge, sowie die thematische Grundlage aus dem Blickwinkel europapolitischen Fortschritts. Hierbei wird es einen kurzen Rundgang zu den "Basics" der Freien Software geben (Stichwort: 4 Freiheiten) und zu unserer Argumentation wieso dies für die JEF Deutschland relevant ist von mir selbst geben (Besagte Argumentation ist auch vorab auf unserer Website[1] nachzulesen).
Der Stammtisch wird digital per BigBlueButton erfolgen, eine Anmeldung ist nicht nötig. Zur Teilnahme reicht eine halbwegs stabile Internetverbindung und ein WebRTC fähiger Webbrowser (z.B. Mozilla Firefox). Die Daten des Konferenzraumes werden ca 60 Minuten vor Beginn in unserem Blog[2] veröffentlicht. Unsere beiden Anträge können hier[3] und hier[4] eingesehen werden (Nicht wundern, sie sind noch auf den Bundesausschuss im März 2020 datiert, der wegen der Pandemie nicht wie geplant stattfinden konnte).

bekanntlich ist die Lage Freier Software bei sogenannten
"Fachanwendungen" teilweise etwas prekär. Das Projekt Freie Software für
Betrieb und Verwaltung will dazu beitragen, diese Lage zu verbessern.
Manchmal gibt es Freie Fachanwendungen. Doch da sie oft nicht in
Distributionen enthalten sind, ist ihr Bekanntheitsgrad zu gering.
Dem abzuhelfen und um die Installation für den Anwender zu vereinfachen,
dient es, diese Anwendungen für Distributionen zu paketieren.
Vor geraumer Zeit haben wir beschlossen, dies mit JVerein zu versuchen,
das wir auch selbst nutzen. Dieses Programm dient der Unterstützung der
Verwaltung deutscher Vereine.
Maßgeblich war dabei auch, dass Deutschland bekanntlich über eine
ausgeprägte Vereinskultur verfügt, sodass diese Software potentiell eine
erhebliche praktische Bedeutung hat.
Allerdings ist JVerein in Java geschrieben, was es nach
Distributionsregeln erforderlich machte, zunächst alle Abhängigkeiten,
die nicht bereits in der Distribution enthalten waren, zu paketieren.
Und die Abhängigkeiten der Abhängigkeiten und und und ...
Das hat leider lange gedauert.
Aber ab heute ist es möglich, eine Freie Vereinsverwaltungssoftware
aus dem Debian-Repositorium zu nutzen (zumindest zum Testen).
JVerein ist nun als Plugin neben Hibiscus für Jameica im Debian
Repositorium verfügbar.
Das Paket steht bereits unter
http://people.debian.org/~mechtilde/JVerein zur Installation zur Verfügung:
Der entsprechende Eintrag in der Datei /etc/apt/sources.list lautet:
deb [trusted=yes] http://people.debian.org/~mechtilde/JVerein ./
Andernfalls muss man warten, bis die Ftp-Master des Debian-Projektes das
Paket (zunächst) für experimental freigegeben haben.
Bitte testet es und gebt Mechtilde Feedback.
Hoffentlich kommt es dann in das nächste Release (bullseye).
