Reminder: speaker's deadline tomorrow, 17 November at 23:59 UTC The Free RTC dev-room has already received some really exciting talk proposals but there is still time for people to propose talks or encourage friends or colleagues to speak. Many other dev-rooms also have a deadline in the next few days and if your topic is applicable to more than one dev-room, you are welcome to make more than one submission. Please contact us or put a note in the memo field at the top of the talk proposal if you do that. All projects are encouraged to consider making a lightning talk too, it is an excellent opportunity to get exposure for your project: even though you only have 15 minutes, it can be a much larger and more diverse audience than in some dev-rooms. [Free-RTC] FOSDEM: lounge and other things beyond the dev-room

Hi all, Does anybody have any ideas about things we can do beyond the dev-room? Who anticipates running a demo in the Real-time lounge? Would anybody be interested in running a troubleshooting clinic as part of the lounge, where we can invite people to show us things that don't work on their computers and we help them do packet captures and open bug reports? Who may be able to help organize demos with other groups? For example, one year we had a webcam connection from the Debian table to the Real-time lounge using WebRTC and XMPP. Would anybody be interested in helping produce a one page quick-start brochure that we could distribute at FOSDEM? Maybe the brochure could list 3 common proprietary apps and the best 3 free alternatives with quick setup instructions. Does anybody have other ideas or suggestions about things they observed other groups doing or at other events? Regards, Daniel

Hi Daniel, I was able to successfully run the NDK-build and was able to resolve the error which appeared while building it. it was * **jni/g729/siphon-g729/Headers\basic_op.h:641:21: error: invalid output constraint '=&r*i' in asm* * : "=&r*i"(out),and in line 700: ** '=&r*i' in asm* "*i" output constraint syntax was not found in the Asm Library. I think, the compiler which my version of ndk build was using could not understand "*i" I changed " =&r*i"(out) and kept & "=&r"(out) . There seems to be some mismatch in the constraints that the compiler on my system was identifying . Possibly due to deprecation or version changes. Since it is assembly language level change I removed that unidentified constraint on one of the output register. I don't think that for the purposes of my work it would have any significant impact, I could file this is an issue on the github page so that others who run into can know how to bypass it atleast in development. [Free-RTC] [Outreachy] application deadline Monday, 17 October

The Outreachy application deadline is Monday, 17 October at 19:00 UTC Anybody interested in mentoring, at this stage, the best thing to do is simply promote the program and help answer questions on the mailing lists. After the application deadline, we can see the number of applicants and discuss how to proceed. Every potential intern needs to register in the GNOME registration system before the deadline: https://outreachy.gnome.org Interns: don't wait for the last minute, servers often crash in the hour before an important deadline. In the application, it asks you to propose a timeline for your work. Pick one or more of the tasks from project.freertc.org (or any other bugs listed in Github or elsewhere) and make a list of them in the order you would work on them. Every applicant needs to make a small contribution to a project before the deadline. Simply trying to compile one of the projects and sending a public email about your experience doing that will be sufficient but it is better if you try to fix some bug or make some small improvement to the code. Anybody who does submit an Outreachy application can be considered for GSoC 2017 as well and we have had many cases where applications are not accepted in Outreachy but were subsequently successful in applying for GSoC. Many of the details from the Outreachy application can be cut-and-pasted for a GSoC application too so please keep a copy of everything you put in the application. Please make sure you tell us if you also want to apply for GSoC 2017.
