Dear Katerina,
we already had a privacy policy text which we used for our survey. I have tried to adjust it for the purposes of our website (check the document in attachment).
How about uploading this in pdf with an hyperlink in the ‘Contact Us’ section?
The short text may be something like “All the personal data and information you provide are stored in compliance with the Regulation EU 2016/679 (General Data Protection Regulation). Click here to read our full Privacy Policy”.
What do everyone think?

Oggetto: Re: [FOSS4SMEs-team] Feedback Website
Dear all,
thank you once again for providing us with your valuable feedback on our FOSS4SMEs website. I am happy to inform you that my colleagues have taken most of your points into consideration and have updated the website accordingly http://www.foss4smes.eu/. The status of those updates are documented in the attached file. We would like to ask Dlearn and DIT for their further assistance on their suggestions:
- To Dlearn: Can you please provide us with a short privacy policy text for the ‘Contact us’ section, where we should include a reference to the new GDPR, to how our partnership will use the personal data submitted?
- To DIT: Can you please help us with your comments on including a timeline of events graphic or placing at the “Expected Outcomes” section an infographic or with the “Rationale” section and the infographic/flow diagram there? Can you provide us with those graphics or tell us how we can create them?
Thank you in advance for coming back to us on these points. Further points will be discussed in our next telco in the 27th of August.
Best,
Katerina

Hi Max,
thank you very much for your nitpicking feedback, which is more than welcome.
I must admit that I havent understood everything you suggested (because of some terminology), and I will get back to you after the 28.05 when everyone will have inserted his feedback in the form I created.
We prefer to gather your feedback in the document located here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1BNsJZFTZLtp6QrfPSb3ejNSHR8SymntrOBQu0hdH1X4/edit
as otherwise is hard for me and my IT team to keep track of all the suggested changes for the website. We prefer to collect all this information in a single document, which will be our basis for the next editing session. I hope this is ok for everyone.
Many thanks once again!
I am looking forward to further comments in the coming days!
Best,
Katerina

Hi all,
I had a closer look at the FOSS4SMEs website and would like to leave and
share some feedback. Sorry in advance for nitpicking ;)
- The title could be changed to something different than a "welcome
to...". What about "FOSS4SMEs - Increase digital competency in small
and medium-sized businesses with FOSS"? This involves both the
website
title and the orange text in the slider.
- foss4smes.eu/the-project <http://foss4smes.eu/the-project> on "Why
FOSS":
- I would add the argument of vendor independence a.k.a. decreasing
vendor lock-in
- change "hardware" -> "technology", the control includes more than
just the silicon ;)
- foss4smes.eu/what-is-foss/ <http://foss4smes.eu/what-is-foss/>:
- open source was rather created as a marketing term for Free
Software, not as an "alternative".
- I don't quite like that Free Software is described as an
alternative. Actually, all software has been FOSS until the 80's.
But I see that most readers don't know this nuance.
- Regarding the confusion about the different terms, this article
[^1]
explains it quite well. This "interpretation" is equal to OSI's by
the way.
- foss4smes.eu/the-consortium/ <http://foss4smes.eu/the-consortium/>:
- It could be good to add some short descriptions of the partner
organisations to this page, next to the individual logos.
- If that's too much work, make the links of the logos go to the
partners' websites instead of the larger version of the image.
- foss4smes.eu/category/latest-news/
<http://foss4smes.eu/category/latest-news/>:
- All news are from 19 April which doesn't really make much sense.
Could you please change the dates to fix the order?
- Technicalities
- The website should be accessible via HTTPS, so with an SSL
certificate. Otherwise visitors will see security warnings, and
search engines may downgrade the website
- The website includes external resources from google.com
<http://google.com>, vine.co <http://vine.co> and
twitter.com <http://twitter.com> and therefore leaks visitors' data
to those companies.
In the light of GDPR and our visitors' privacy, can we disable
these
external inclusions?
- The menus sometimes lead to blank pages. For instance, a click on
"FOSS4SMES" and "FOSS BUSINESS USER" in the navigation bar.
I hope this helps :)
Best,
Max
