I don't see why I should even care about Linux and especially Linus at all. Personally, I just help finishing the GNU system instead of caring about the GNU/Linux variant. I don't see why people supporting free software want to get associated with some bunch of people
If so many people who are talking about free software would work on Hurd, it would be a usable OS for years.

It would not because it's misdesigned.
If Hurd developers really cared about doing good and useful kernel they would start from Linux or one of BSDs and add features that they consider necessary.

There can be huge discussions on this topic, but I think, it's a bit off-topic on this list. Please, if you want to criticize the Hurd, consider starting this discussion on a Hurd specific mailinglist, like for example bug-hurd@gnu.org; it's on-topic there.

True, but those people talking about free software don't work on GNU/Hurd but work on GNU/Linux and complain about Linus using bitkeeper on this list. I just want to point out that they could work on GNU/Hurd instead of complaining. That would be far more useful IMHO.
